apparently, there's this huge immigration problem, but i haven't noticed it. there's tons of immigrants where i live, and everything seems fine. i thought all of the immigration was supposed to make society crumble around me- that sounds interesting, and i wouldn't mind seeing it, but it doesn't seem to be happening.

am i just really lucky to be in a place where immigration isn't causing total anarchy?

Exagerating to make a point much? Many people aren't affected. Yes, you're lucky and probably male and probably in a tech or other white collar job. The problem mostly affects the very young and older workers, female workers, laborers and entry level or unskilled workers. Also, it mostly affects neighborhoods with a higher number of working class hispanic immigrants. They double up and bring their problems with them. Some have the attitude of well I did this illegally so I might as well do that illegally. It's contagious. It's not necessarily "anarchy" as you say, but more car vandalism. More little things missing. More garbage in the street, etc. We had a couple well employed family members and a few underemployed family members. Now we have a couple well employed family members and a bunch of unemployed family members. Instead of being middle class we're working class. It's not for a lack of trying.
I had to wait 4 hours to get a prescription yesterday. 90% of the people in there were Spanish speaking immigrants and they estimate half to be illegal. They ALL had small children with them. They all needed an interpreter. I was the last to be seen. Imagine if I didn't have to compete with them for a job and medical care? My quality of life would be better. But you don't care as long as you're ok, right? It's all about you.

You probably are just oblivious...maybe even intentionally so. I live well, but then, I can afford to. The people who are REALLY getting hurt are low income Americans. Does that mean that I should ignore the problem because it doesn't affect me? After all, who cares about the American poor, right? They aren't a big voting block. They don't complain much. They just suffer quietly and try to pull themselves out of poverty. Perhaps it THEY were marching in the streets, burning American flags and spitting on police, you might have more sympathy for THEM.

Once upon a time, these Americans could feed their families by cleaning homes or offices, working manual labor, construction, or other small, unskilled jobs. Back then, living wages were paid --- wages that included taxes to the government. Businesses CAN pay a living wage now, but they refuse to as they can find someone to do the same job minus the taxes to the government. It's win-win for big business and lose-lose for the American lower class and lower middle class.

My children have yet to be abused by a pedophile, but I'm not turning my back on all those who have and saying "poor pitiful pedophiles...just leave them alone...they are human too" We have a responsibility to do what is right -- whether wrong doing affects us directly or not. It's an issue of right and wrong.

you may be lucky to have blinders on your eyes. it is possible that the police have been able to stop and resist enough crime in your area that you do not notice anything. not all immigrants are going to rape and kill you. it also depends on the type of immigrants as well. are they illegal? are they selling drugs? are they all in gangs? do they band together and beat on the people around there? things do not always happen right away. when people say that society crumbles its more the property value that is crumbling. why not get another estimate on your house. its probably decreased in value as the immigrant population increases or is not rising as fast in value as it would in another part of town/city. are your kids getting the same treatment as they were before or are the immigrant kids getting special care because they just are not catching on and need more help? things take time. if you want to see it crumble you have to wait for the stereotypical immigrants to start moving in. THEN you will see it happen and happen very quickly.

Legal immigrants are fine.

The ILLEGAL ones are the problem. I have had two friends that were involved in car accidents with uninsured illegals. The illegals were at fault. In one, the driver passed away at the scene and one passenger is still hospitalized and will never be the same. In the other, they just took off.... leaving my friend with $2000.00 in damage to her car. If the illegals were not here, my friends would not have those heart aches.

Yes,you are lucky, unfortunately,my step daughters friend wasn't so lucky. She was raped and stabbed to death in her own home by her illegal neighbor. We thought we lived in a safe town too, even though we are flooded with illegals. Guess we were wrong.

There are only two true things that are accountable for situations in life. Those that have had things done to them, and those who still will have those things happen. Luck has nothing to do with it. Circumstances do.

I am not aware that they keep specific statistics on legal immigration and crime however many different organizations keep track of illegal immigration and crime due to the cost to house them.

I suggest you check out the statistics for crime and how it has risen in border towns directly attributable to illegal immigration.

Border Counties: Crime Skyrockets
"The counties bordering Mexico would rank No. 1 in federal crime if they were a state, according to a new study. "

"Although the U.S.-Mexico Border Counties Coalition was founded nearly a decade ago because of the high costs border counties bear to incarcerate criminal undocumented aliens and provide emergency medical care to undocumented immigrants, we want to take this opportunity to remind Congress, and the nation, that immigration is only one issue that affects the border," Cox said. Not anarchy but the quality of life had gone down.

Say, have you ever been to an emergency room in Los Angeles or Dallas/Ft. Worth? If you have you will know the strain illegal aliens have on county services.

The problem isn't that immigrants are causing crimes or coming in still, it's the illegal immigrants that are not paying taxes to the country that they are living in. Immigrants that are citizens are fine, all the debate is over illegal immigrants.
