They have a choice and could take their children. They leave them, hoping for an anchor to bring them back. Many of them wrongfully scream their home nations won't accept their children. In the case you mention, Mexico grants citizenship to the children of Mexican citizens who are born in other nations, they simply have to file a form at a consulate.
This 3-striker should have been charged, tried and imprisoned. Simple deportation saved her from heavy fines and a lengthy jail-term. They scream and rant about separating families, but many of the illegals leave children in their home nations when they come here and their supporters don't seem to have a problem with that hypocrisy.
One woman with an anchor baby left 3 children in Mexico and when her husband died in the bridge collapse went public asking for assistance to return his body to Mexico and bring her 3 children here. She and her husband were illegal aliens.
It is a tragedy for her to lose her husband and in that I'm sympathetic, but it ends there. She should be deported. It's her choice what to do with her child. If's she's a true mother, she would take her child with her. But then, she never should have left Mexico and her other children.
We aren't separating families, they are doing so with their choice to commit illegal acts.

"We are always hearing how it splits up families, should they be made to take their children with them? Would this not end their families being split up?" Well you've got a few problems to contend with: 1. How do you 'force' these people to take their children with them? I don't see any way you could really do this. What could you possibly threaten them with if they didn't take the kids with them? A fine? Jail-time? Heck, an American jail might be a far better standard of living than 'freedom' in their own country(ies). 2. You can't deport natural born citizens. Afterall, if they are natural born citizens, the only country they could be deported to is their country of birth, which is the country they are already in! 3. The law is the law. As someone else has posted, these people made the decision to enter the country illegally (or overstay). They always had the threat of deportation hanging over their heads. I know it sounds cruel, but they should have taken into account that responsibility before deciding to have children. "Why do illegals abandon their children here when deported?" The situations where this occurs are rare and almost always complex, (typically involving parents who have already abandoned the children anyway and are in trouble with the law). "Why do illegals not come forward when their children are caught?" I'm not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean children who themselves also have no legal status in the country? If that's what you mean, then I'm going to go out on a limb here and make a wild guess as to why the parents might not want to come forward...: Maybe because they don't want to get deported themselves? Again, these people have brought this upon themselves. That sounds harsh, and it is, but that's the system as it works right now, and I don't think it's changing one bit anytime at all soon.

The problem of illegal immigration is our own fault. As Americans, if we dismiss our role in this we will never solve the problem. We create social programs that are intended to help provide a bridge to independance - but create a lifestyle instead. We enact a law that deems any child born here an American citizen and we expect people to not abuse that. We enact laws that make it almost impossible to come here legally. We blame employers for hiring people who have purchased false ID on the black market from Americans. If you want a state issued drivers license all you need to do is bribe the "right" person at the DMV.
Your question really is - should we deport American citizens if their parents broke the law?

Mexico is treating this woman like a queen. Mexico refuses to indicate the kid can go there. Mexico continues to blame America for the illegal breaking so many laws and she is suppose to be treated differently because she had a kid here with an unknown father. She could be locating the father and make him start making child support payments. She is all about human rights, well the kid has a right to have child support paid and visitation with his father. She should be thinking God she is not laying up in prison for SS fraud.

This creep of a woman has left her child behind! But she's such a nut that this boy is probably better off without her! He should know what freedom reallly is and not being held for political purposes. She is the epitome of a bad mother and illegal to boot! I do wonder who the kids father is though?

It should be a natural maternal instinct to take your child with you where ever you go especially at such a young, vulnerable age. Apparently, some people, like that one illegal, have other agendas and use their child as a political instrument instead raising him like a human being. Very sad.

You would think they would want to take their children back with them. Apparently they care more about breaking the law. It sends a bad message that they will keep on crossing the border and not have the laws enforced.

All children born here in the United States are American citizens regardless of the status of the parent(s). Not only do I think that those children should be NOT be deported I think there parents should not be deported either. C'mon, folks! Most of the people who are coming down so hard on illegal immigrants are the very same people who espouse "family values." It's a little hypocrital to split up these families while having a hissy fit about American families being split up by divorce, etc.

They should either take the minor child/children with them, or send support payments for them. The taxpayers should not be footing the bill for these anchor babies.
