I think it was a bit excessive, but then I'm not God.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God because the people there were openly acting against the laws of nature. The loving and caring God has created woman to give pleasure to man. Man, created in the image of God, neglects her and goes in search of one of the same sex. This God could not countenance. And hence, He destroyed the two cities.
The signs regarding the coming of Jesus include widespread homosexuality. That confirms that Jesus is likely to come back soon.

If that actually happened (by nature, not by God's wrath !) it only killed a few thousands in those small towns. No big deal as today earthquakes kill up to 100,000 persons each year.
Today we have A.I.D.S. and other deadly S.T.D.s that are killing in terrible agony over 40 million humans. No cure will be found, and 600 million or more may die by about AD2030. GOD did not make these diseases ! human scientists certainly did not ! devils did not ! (Jesus took away all of their former weak powers) I know but I won't say. I will state this:
The normal human Family of One Man and One Woman, united in marriage, to build a Home and to co-create more Children as sons of God for our Father WILL BE MAINTAINED AND PROMOTED AT ANY COST.
Count the terrible cost of moral deviancy ! Go and sin no more. Accept Jesus free Gift of eternal sonship in the Family of God !

It's not as good of story as the first Harry Potter book. Lot's wife turning to salt seems like a huge overkill, yeah a bit of disobedience but her home and friends (who may or may not have been inhospitable, gay or rapists - after all it only mentions the men not their wives) was being destroyed.
It just came to me, Lot offered his daughters to be used by the crowd, that seems to me to be a greater sin than his wife's.
Can't wait for the next part where the daughters have their revenge by getting their dad drunk and taking advantage of him....

Just Yahweh throwing another temper tantrum. He did that a lot in Old Testament times. One day he's Mr Lovey Merciful, next day he's blowing up cities and turning people into salt.

Even conservative theologians today agree that the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah were that of rape and inhospitality. It has been wrongly interpreted throughout the years to assume it was of being gay.....

It was destroyed for sexual perversion. Lot and his wife were allowed to escape before God destroyed it. The angel told them not to look back, but she did and was turned into a pillar of salt.

Whenever the world behaves like this ,it will be treated like that only .That is the lesson behind .And Sodom & Gommorah incident remains just as an example for the world of any age to come .That's all my dear.

God gave them plenty of warning. He even sent the angels and yet they still did not turn from their ways. because of that, they had to suffer the consequences. i support God and His decision.

The Bible is full of hypocrisies and down right horrible things. I think I'll make up my own, nice consistent God.
