The meaning of life is whatever meaning you give to your life.
For Christians, Christ was specific about certain precepts. As far as other religions, you will need to chat with others.
The doctrine of Free Will dictates that you choose what meaning to ascribe to your life and what works to pursue.

For me, it's the search for the meaning of life. I'm not being a smart a**. That's really where I get the most meaning out of life -- in my search for more and more meaning.
It's like "the journey is the destination" or one of those Zen things.

The "meaning" of life has not been assigned. The fact that you are an organism of sufficient complexity to be self-aware, able to remember and capable of abstract though enables you to assign your own meaning to your life. Life is not intrinsically about "meaning", but what you do with it can be.
