How old are you? I wouldn't let my parents decide who to date; but if you think it will get you into trouble if you tell them, then don't.

If he's truly different than the other bfs you've had, you should eventually tell them. But for now, just keep it to yourself, for as long as you possibly can, then tell them. But I have a hunch, that what the family doesn't approve of, is a combination of
the attitudes plus peronalities of the guys, and how many guys you have a relationship with, if it's more than one guy.

A don't think any parent has the right to do that, you should be the one to make that decision it's your life, but to keep you on your guard I strongly think you should keep your relationship on a low profile just for your security. then one day when you are old enough i think you should tell your parent that you prefer to do any decision making where your life and future is concern.

oh jeez. ok well it is the 21st century and your parents should realize that their daughter's happiness is more important than heritage/ethnicity.
you should defnitely tell them about it. just explain to them what i wrote above and whatever else you want to say.

EDIT: okay what that dude said up above about how boyfriends come and go and your family is forever. well no crap they are forever and they should accept you for you no matter who you are dating. yeah boyfriends will come and go but what happens when you find a man you truly love and want to spend your life with? what are you going to tell your parents then? it will probably be too late. its best to let them know how you feel now so you can avoid this problem when it is most important.

I think it depends on how ling you've been with your bf. if not too long, wait and see where it goes. if it come toa couple of months or more, then tell them. When they see how well you two interact It will show them that your bf does have good intentions and that they shouldnt jump to conclusions.

How old are you? If over 18, it's not something you have to share, if under 17, your parents should know who you are spending time with.

Keep it to yourself untill you know that they will approve of him. Find out from them what they want in a guy for you, and if your boyfriend is of that material. Introduce them. If not...I wouldn't suggest a dinner party.

If you're not engaged I'd keep it to myself.

If you think your family will whack him I'd definitely keep it to myself.

Something like that gets out it could ruin your whole social life.

how old are you? if you are of age do what you want if not then it will be tricky to find an even ground there with your parents. Explain to your parents that it could be worse :)
