For those who don't know, Hilly Kristal was the founder of CBGBs, where the Ramones once performed. He was the staple of punk rock.

RIP Hilly Kristal

RIP

It definitely is a sad day. Music wouldn't be the same without him and I definitely I wouldn't be who I am without the bands he gave a chance to so in essence, I wouldn't be who I am without him.

Hilly wasn't a staple, he made a living off an old bar and never paid his bills. Only reason punk bands played there is because Hilly couldn't get any other bands there.
F-him! He was talking about moving CBGB's to Las Vegas an making it a tourist joint.

The bands that play and tour and starve for their music are staples. They make punk rock, not an old codger with a run-down club.
