that appears to be the case.
Seems like a bit of a double standard, I guess.

the "double-standard" is that there are 2 faiths that believe in the supernatural, divine, rituals, etc. and only one is maligned.
If one is an atheist then they have a "problem" with those issues, by definition.

Daughter - Link war attack!
I'm not whining, I'm only trying to figure out what appears to be a hypocrisy among atheists.
This doesn't actually have anything to do with Paganism.

Our laws in Government are a reflection of our COLLECTIVE morality, not a specific Religion.
For those who say that Atheists do not try to force their beliefs on others, wake up smell the coffee. Laws are passed for abortion, Laws are passed to ban even a moment of silence in schools because it could result in kids praying, evolution is the only creation theory taught. (Catholic schools teach both) they are trying to cleanse the society of any faith that they can. I can't count how many times I have seen Atheists post things like "We need to burn all religious books" or "We need to ban all Religion"
Is baning religion not forcing your lack of belief on us?
Back to the legislative agenda, what about the Atheists that are pro-life, are they forcing their pro live Atheism down your throat? Again, laws reflect morals, not Religion.
The sad thing is that we are ALL victims of the real problem, Christians, Atheist alike are being drawn into the consumerism that is eroding all of our morals, be they Christian or natural Law morals.
Peace be with the Atheists, and may God Bless the Christians out there.

I have a problem with anyone telling me that my (lack of) belief system is wrong because they say so. Or because their book says so.
I have a problem with anyone who says that they (or their book) is right and science is wrong.
I have a problem with anyone saying that their belief is right just because their book says it is.
I have a problem with anyone saying that I must live as they (or their book) say, and must educate my kids in the same dogma.
I do not care if they are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Pagan or Pastafarian.
The only people like this here on the R&S board, that I recall, have been Christian and Muslim. If you want to point out a Pagan doing the same thing then I will go get my big hammer.
No double standard, except possibly in your mind.

Actually, you're pretty much wrong, but atheists often don't understand that.
The omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, omnibeneficient god of Abraham CANNOT exist as described by his followers.
Pagan gods are indistinguishable from any other beings with superior technology to human kind.
Very few atheists are willing to say there is no being in the universe with superior technology to those on this planet. The definition of god outside of the Abrahamic religions is JUST THAT-beings with technology far superior to our own.
The arguement against Pagans a reasonable atheist would have would be the disbelief that the Pagans were interacting with such beings, not that they cannot exist.
I am as certain now of the nonexistance of the god of Abraham as I was as an atheist.

Their theology is delusional and dangerous as well. The evangelizing is just the most annoying part.
And as far as the double standard, atheists tend to hang out in places like this where discussion is encouraged and invited. When was the last time an atheist knocked on your door? It happens the other way all the time.

We often centralize on Christians simply because they are the ones in power and using their Bible as a guideline to govern us. While pagans as equally gullible as Christians, they at least are not trying to control the world around them. In addition, pagans seem to be overall more open minded towards other beliefs. If they were the majority and were trying to govern our lives with their beliefs they would also see some form of resistance.

It depends on what you mean by "problem". By definition, atheists consider Christian theology a fantasy, just like the Greek pantheon, Star Wars or Ayn Rand books (ow! cheap shot!). As long as you don't actually insist that everyone live like Vulcans, hobbits or free-market Capitalists, you should be free to "believe" what you want.
So, what is the "other" faith you mention?

All the theists are prone to magical thinking, but I have yet to have a Pagan knock on my door and hand me a publication telling me that I'm stupid, and deserve eternal torment.
When they do, I'll hand it back to them and shoo them away. Until then, we can talk about other things.
Many Christians can't talk about anything without inserting a member of the Trinity into the conversation.

I'm not sure how you're referencing to a double standard. To me it seems pretty clear-cut that while some atheists have a problem with Christianity, it's theology, and it's history, most are just concerned with their preaching. Over the course of a day I hear, "I'll pray for you," or "May God be in your heart." It's a real smack in the face to someone not of faith to be told, "I'll pray for you."
It's complete disrespect.

Yes, but their propensity to evangelize is a direct result of their faith.
They are encouraged at every turn by their religious leaders to convert, to profess their faith and that all other Gods are to be maligned.

Yes, the major problem I have with many Christians is their desire and efforts to impose their religious ideas on me and mine through legislation and social conditioning.
The major problem I have with Christianity is the theology.
Love the religionist, hate the religion. I'm sure you can appreciate the distinction.
