I have a new laptop which came with Vista home premium, however I dislike vista and would like to revert back to XP Professional.

Will my laptop allow this?

Will it function properly?

Will i need to reinstall an older version of MS Office also ? (i have office 2007)

Whatever you do hold on to Vista !

If you replace it now with XP you will only live to regret it.

XP is very fast becoming yesterdays operating system.

Vista is coming on leaps and bounds, whatever you do leave it be, as in a few months time you will find yourself wanting to buy a copy.

Dont allow yourself to be swayed by the ill-informed 'vista sucks' brigade.

Its a big lie.

Vista is already far superior.

Ive been running Home Premium since the day it was released with no problems whatsoever.

To revert to Windows XP, you would need to delete the partition (and by doing that all data and programs) from your computer. Then repartition and reformat the drive. You can do this during the Windows XP install. Simply boot off the XP CD and right after the F8 to agree you will be prompted about partitions and formating.

You can run Office 2007 on an XP PC if the machine meets the hardware requirements. If the PC is able to run Vista, it is able to run Office 2007. Even on XP.

First you will need to erase the hard drive (Erase Vista)
How? Create a boot disk to do this from. Webroot Window Washer from www.webroot.com lets you create a bootable cd or floppy disk to do this with. I think even the free trial will do it.
After the disk is created you will need to boot the computer from the disk this is often done by accessing the system bios or "setup"
Delete the Hard Drive
Then Insert XP CD and boot from it install XP.

As far as Microsoft office 2007 I think you can install that on your XP machine... I dont see why not.
