I want a tattoo (and have for quite some time) but everyone is telling me not to because it will ruin my "sweet, classy persona". I want to be classy but I get the impression that tattoo and classy don't go together. What do you think?

Also. Because i'm doing it for very personal meaning, I wanted to put it small and close behind my ear. I also am thinking of putting it on my shoulder blade.

If i were to put it behind my ear so that you couldn't see it unless my hair was tightly pulled back, would this really effect a job?

Thanks for your help!

it wont affect most jobs, however it will have to be unnoticable if your employer asks. I say go for it, and good luck!

invisible- either hair down, or thick make up

Flower Tattoo Behind Ear

behind the ear is extremely painful. Some jobs require you to keep your hair pulled back. I have a black dot tattooed behind both of my ears, and when people ask, i just say it's a freckle, and leave it at that. Tattoos and Classy CAN go hand in hand. your class has nothing to do with the amount of tattoos on your body, it has to do with how you carry yourself. I don't recommend getting tattoos where they're highly visible, however. I have one on my forearm, and one on the inside of my wrist, and they made my life hell trying to get a job for a while. I have 17 tattoos total, and the only ones that are visible when i'm wearing my usual work clothes are the ones behind my ears.

You never can tell what some people will freak out about during a job interview. I have known some places that had a strict no visible tattoo policy. However, if it is not visible I don't think you will have a problem. They are not going to do a complete body exam to find out if you have tattoos. If they do demand that then report them to the police because they would be perverts pretending to give out jobs.

Put some thought into it. I know plenty of people who are still proud of their tattoos even though they are faded and stretched due to time. I know one guy who has one on his arm that looks like a grey blob but he still likes it. He has had it for over 60 years.

I have a tattoo behind my ear and am planning on getting another one on the otherside this week. It is VERY easy to hide. Especially if you have medium or long hair. Even when I wear my hair up, most people don't notice it. And if you are truly worried, you can buy stage makeup to cover up your tattoo. I use Color Tration, which you can order online and it works wonderfully. Regarding pain on behind the ear/neck tattoos; my neck tattoo was the least painful of all of mine, and I have 14 total so far. The vibration of the machine that close to your ear is a little unnerving, but it hurt very very little.

No it would not effect a job at all. Behind the ear may feel a little funny. I am really weird about that though because I don't like people touching my head/face area.

Tattoos and being classy totally go together. It's when you get something retarded and poorly done that is tacky!

tattoos and classy do go together. I currently have three and want more. I'm a very classy person. All my tattoos are in places people can't see: lower back, lower stomach, and ribs. If your really want it go for it. Be yourself. Don't let other people tell what to do. I know a girl who has a flower tattoo behind her ear and you can never see it unless her hair is pulled back tightly. Good Luck.

Getting it behind your ear is really going to hurt! But if you get it small enough you should be able to cover it up with makeup. Anothing thing is, how hard is it going to be for your tattoo artist to get right there? Is your hair going to get in the way? Just think about it before hand!

Yeah, I went through the same thing 4 tattoos ago!
I LOVE my tattoos, & I wouldn't change them for the world! Everyone of mine mean something to me!
The thing behind the ear... that might HURT! I would go with the shoulder blade!
Good Luck, on whatever you decide! :-)~
