Do painkillers affect feelings/emotions?

I feel like this question may be a little silly but..

my boyfriend had his wisdom teeth removed and was on and off Oxycodone [I think that was the one, at least] for a weekend. He tried to take the pills only when the pain became totally unbearable.. because he didn't like the idea of taking pills. Anyway, he became super needy that weekend.. not wanting me to leave and constantly calling/texting when I had to go out to work. He also felt the need to tell me that he loved me and that I was wonderful every few minutes. Basically, he wasn't acting like himself. The night that he had his surgery, we stayed up all night, talking. He told me about tons of things [like the fact that he was in love with me and other types of things he didn't generally just say right out]. Did I just get a glimpse into his vulnerable, repressed, super needy side.. or were his feelings just clouded/affected by the painkillers he was on?

2 things could be at work here: 1) Some guys get really needy and vulnerable when they are sick. 2) Drugs like Oxycodone can render users more emotional and less inhibited about showing emotions.

My guess is that the modified behaviors you saw are due to both factors.

these pills can affect you in many different ways. other than the euphoria you get(depends on how many you take at 1 time) the need to get that same feeling calls for more &more as time goes by. and they will make you talk a lot sometimes saying things you wish you hadn't. always made me feel like i was taking speed. got me really hyper.

he wouldn't say them if he didn't feel them but he only said them cause he was floating.
