It's good to know self defense as a last resort! You want to be a fighter join UFC! You want to beat people in street fighting then prepare to go to jail and getting shot at! No I wouldn't unless if he tries to hurt me then I'll break his limbs! That will be my first warning! There's no second chance with me! But I'm not or ever want to be a killer! I would avoid the bully or psycho! Even though He pisses me off!

My personal view:
Say anything you want but once you put your hands on me.

once you touch me, I got you. Bullies are the lowest of the low. They only attack the weaker and timid. With a bully one good whipp'n should stop the harassment. A psycho, well if you ask my wife a good fast moving car is what is needed. (don't ask)

No Lia, I would weigh your decision like this:

If you have a chance to escape, do so.

If escape is not possible, then you should use "self offense"; What I mean by this is you need to go at your attacker with full force, and intend to hurt or kill them if necessary. Simply trying to "defend" will give your attacker a definite advantage. Remember that action is always faster than reaction.

Moves to use: Eye gouge/rake, foot stomp, rake his shins with your heel (if grabbed from behind), strike to the throat (only if you are in fear of your life, it is a killing blow), bite fingers (hard), Head butt to nose, hard strike to the side of the neck with forearm (a knockout blow), kick or strike to the groin (not always possible as men defend that area well usually, follow another move like the rake to the eyes), hard strike to the ear with your palm (break his eardrum), Hard kick from the front to the knee joint (rip his knee ligaments).

As you see, the options are endless, it is emotional content that is required. If you fight like a victim you will become a victim. Fight like a cornered Lion and you will escape with your life.

If you are proficient at the martial arts, 10+ years of good training plus street fighting experience, then you really don't use your most deadly techniques against an obnoxious drunk or crackhead (as much as you'd like too).

A trained bully with a little boxing, martial arts, or street fighting experience then go ahead and ruin his day.

First of all, I'd think before reacting, depending on what kind of person I'm dealing with. Whether it's someone who has nothing to lose, shows up/off in front of people; other friends/strangers, just likes the thrill and hasn't had they're *** handed to them enough times to accept being humble or others who are humble... I could go on all day, but I'll get to the point. Yes. Speed kills! Sometimes though, "JACK" doesn't want get their hands dirty and brings friends into it, instead of 1 on 1. I like to be smarter/the better man and realize I'd like to see tomorrow, so sometimes you gotta duck one, especially if the other person has nothing to lose. THINK first...

Man people need to know the difference between self defense and assault.

In most cases it is best to get someone of authority involved right away, why hassle with any of the BS.

Bullies are usually only picking on weaker targets, and you really only deal with them in school. Let a teacher/administrator know and ignore them.

Psychos such as crazy exes and the like, if they start getting weird or physical call the cops. Fortunately most states have anti stalking laws, and you can always file a restraining order quite easily, so that when he does come around you have legal precedent to get his @ss thrown in jail.

No sense matching stupidity or violence with stupidity or violence, it is dangerous and not worth it.

Keep in mind Self Defense is on YOU to prove. Depending on local laws (school rules) you could have been attacked or provoked and still get in trouble for excessive violence or for assault if you had the ways and means to avoid a physical confrontation all together.

You always want to make sure the law in on your side period. Trust me this court system is inudated with people who were at the wrong place at the wrong time, or just simply did not use common sense.

I would only use Self Defense measures as a last resort, meaning I was attacked, there was no way for me to escape, and I needed to be in fear of my life or safety. Then I use the proper force necessary to neutralize the threat.

i.e. if I am in a fist fight with someone and a jam a broken glass bottle into his face, I damn sure better have reason to show I was in serious danger of losing my life to result to aggrevated assault with a deadly weapon, or I could be the one ending up in jail.

The same goes with a situation in school, no sense stooping to a bully's level and going at it, it only means trouble for both of you. If you let someone know, he gets in trouble or at the very least if you do get into a confrontation they at least have record of this person provoking you and you can avoid serious trouble.

Seriously, there are people who have gotten into a lot of trouble simply defending themselves, self defense is not as clear cut as who swings first.

Truthfully, legally speaking if you were to sit there and tell someone "Go ahead, punch me, punch me, you hit first" and they did, you are just as much to blame because you had the ways and means to remove yourself from that situation.

Self defense comes when you are attacked without provocation, and immediately are in danger of your safety and you must act/respond with physical violence. Even then the amount of force necessary should be to stop the threat.

Meaning if someone jumps you, you put them on their ***, but then get on top of them and start ramming their head into the cement, then that is excessive and you are at fault. You had your opportunity to remove yourself from the danger but you chose to further inflict damage.

All I am saying in today's legal world, it is a fine line. Even at school, it is always best to get someone of authority involved so that you don't have to worry about it.

Just my two cents...
