After my own crazy experience of trying to plan my wedding which will be October 13th... I figured there are probably others out there that like me, want to cater their own wedding. Well, my future husband has been a chef for 11 years and we decided that other people may have use for a book (we are in the process of writing it) that includes easy to follow, but elegant recipes with menu suggestions so that people can cater their own weddings without having to put out all the crazy expense of having a company do it. Included would be set up ideas for displaying the food, as well as garnishing ideas. Each with step by step details to make it easy for the less experienced! Would you have a use for this book? Would it make planning for your big day easier? What would you expect to pay for this type book?

That is a very good idea. With the cost of caterers these days, people would have a use for a book such as yours. If it is sold under a publisher through a larger chain store - I would pay between $20-30 dollars. Now if this is something you want to independently do and sell in smaller family-owned bookstores - 10-15 dollars. The extra money for the chain stores is because it is offered online/distributed further, and cost is paid by alot of publishers as well.

I dont know if that helps you too much, but I hope it does. Good luck with your book.

The bride and groom have enough on their plate on that day already, that they don't need the added complication of *filling* the plates as well.

But they don't realize that until halfway through the wedding day. You might be able to sell some books to fools.

Actually, I suspect the biggest market for your book will be people who want to start catering weddings, so they get your book and cater a friend's or a relative's wedding.

I recommend you find a publisher who is experienced with cookbooks, rather than self-publishing. The editor will have better ideas on pricing than anyone else.

I catered my own wedding, and it was stressful but went off well. We had to enlist a lot of family and friends to serve, but did the cooking and presentation ourselves. I'd buy the book. I wouldn't even blink at $35.

i have a question...would you really like to cater your own wedding? you should be enjoying the festivities and not be worrying about feeding all your guests.
i mean i also cook and would like to spearhead everything in my future wedding but i don't think it'll be a great idea. but still, goo luck on your venture!
