my calves are really big... not in the toned way though, just pretty fat.. i'm size 6 though (size 1 american wise?) so i'm not chubby or anything, i just want to slim down my calves.. what should i do? will dieting help?

Yes...I think watching what you eat & certain exercises should help you out...Try eating little or no sugar, lean proteins, low-carb (which goes hand in hand with low-sugar), and lower calorie foods. Cut out eating unprocessed foods, with no chemical preservatives added...As far as exercise goes, you definitely should start a running/jogging program...Or, if you do not like running--try power walking. Cardio is a great way to burn fat so the higher you elevate your heart during the workout, the more fat you will burn! Taebo is really great too, if you have any dvds on that, or kickboxing. Here are some really good strength training exercises you can try to help tone up your calves:
1. Standing calf raises
2. Seated calf raises
3. Donkey calf raises

If you are already an american size 1 then dieting will probably not work. My advice is to do a lot of cardio such as running or walking long distances. If you look at runners you will notice they have lean and toned calves not soft large ones. I recommend you walk if you cant run. If you are a size one your diet should be pretty well in order. Yes, dieting is vital in losing weight. You should also have a cardio workout, which also helps burn fat. If you want to tone your calves, you should do calf raises. Just stand on a step with your toes, and go up and down over and over again. Hope that helps.

when i used to wrestle and we had to meet weight, i would wrap my stomach, calfs, or biceps etc with plastic wrap and do some cardio; run, cycle whatever. this method helps the body sweat profusely, therefor reducing my weight without any muscle gain.

you would be better to tone them then try to lose weight.
