Why is it legal too hop in a taxi without a carseat?? Are taxi's suppose too be invincivle or something?? If so I guess I need one I think it is very stupid not too require a carseat yea it is a pain taking it in and out all day long but think of the pain you would have loosing a child at your neglect.

The only thing I can think of is the logistics. There is no way a taxi can carry enough child seats to cover every situation. Also, some people might be worried about the sanitary aspect of the taxi driver carrying the carseat around. The people with small children using the taxi are probably not carrying a child seat with them. If this exclustion were not in place then odds are, taxi drivers would not be able to take people who have children with them. That would be pretty rough on people travelling with children. I do not think taxis were excluded because someone thought they were invincible.

I would think that it is like an airplane, if you want to use a carseat bring your own along.

On an airplane you can hold an infant for free or pay for a seat and use a carseat/infant carrier. Sometimes if there are extra seats flight attendants will reassign so that families can spread out but on full flights forget it.

I'd think that the process would be the same in cabs ? It is interesting that the laws have made it illegal for moms to transport kids around without car seats but it is legal for airplanes, buses, trains etc. Maybe transportation companies should offer them and charge as a rental fee for baby seats ?

When in a taxi you are usually going about 5 miles an hr in traffic a couple blocks. I think a child who is old enough to walk without help will be OK in a regular seat belt for 10 min. Also the parent isn't driving so if there is a problem, the parent can grab the child to protect them.

If you are taking a cab in the suburbs or for a long distance, you should have your own car seat with you. Or if you have a small child. They have those strollers that can be converted into car seats which are fairly convenient

well the taxis arent going to provide the car seat for you b/c it is an expense to the taxi company

besides most people that use taxi's are grownups (people going to-from work),

parents/families usually take the bus
