i am piercing my lip and using a quartz retainer during healing. what gauge and length should i buy?

14 gauge is the standard for piercings. If you're doing it by yourself, I'm sorry but you are an idiot. It's going to get infected, and you're going to have a lot of problems with it. If you're getting it done by a professional they will help you with everything when you go there.

For healing-it should be slightly larger than a standarded, and the gauge was determined when you got it pierced-it could be a 16 or 14.
It should be longer than the thickness of your skin-I suggest you go to a studio and have them look at it before you take measure into your own hands.

Ummm.... Your doing it yourself? I'd reccomend going to a professional peircer. Usually the cost of the jewelry is included in the cost of piercing. They might give you a longer one initially to leave room for swelling and get you to come back to get a shorter one once its healed. EDIT: Also, 14 gauge is standard for most peircings.

go with a 12 guage, about the length go to a peircing studio and ask them for their lip studs, the length i cant help you with it all depends how thick your lipline is some peope have thiner and some have thicker, a percing specialist should have a measuring tool to get you the best length

i am a huge fan of piercings. i have my eyebrow done twice, my nose, ears gauged u name it BUT i had the worst trouble with lip ring and please think of it before u do it.
my bottom tooth ended up having to be pulled due to getting cracked by piercing. i had to have it fixed.
just be careful. it is a cute piercing but ill never get another
