Because Muslim countries routinely kill atheists. However, according to the atheists, Christianity is still far more oppressive, since traditionally Christian countries let the atheists speak up while the Muslim countries kill them off.

I think it seems that way because a lot of question on here are answered by more Americans than people from other countries. This is just my opinion, and I could be mistaken, so take this with a grain of salt, so to speak. In America, the religion in the majority is Christianity, so it is the one we are more acquainted with and better able to pose arguments against. It isn't that we atheist hold more of a respect for Islam, far from it. If I had to choose to live in a country that was governed by a majority of Christians or a majority of Muslims, I would choose the Christians in a heartbeat. It is just that we don't have to face having the Islamic religion pushed on us on a daily basis like we do with the Christians. I would say that is the main reason we question the Christian religion when compared to the Islamic religion. We as atheist lack a belief in any god. We do not hold one religion, that worships a god, in any more esteem than any other. Do you understand it a bit better?

Umm - I have to address your question rather than answer it, because, I am sorry, but your question makes an assumption that is not correct.

My God's name is Yahweh and he has a son named Jesus. Muslims have a God named Allah and he has a prophet named Mohammed. My God is forgiving, but Allah is not. My God sent his son to be a sacrifice for sins, but the Quran says that at the end, Allah will weigh all your good deeds and bad deeds, and if the good deeds outweigh the bad, you can go to heaven. My God says to love your enemies, but the Quran says to slay them (yes, it really does say that. Email me if you disagree and I will give you the specific passage so you can go look for yourself).

These are just SOME of the reasons why my God and Allah are NOT the same! Also, we do not have the same savior, and the belief about the end of the world is far, far different. Space does not permit me to list all of the differences.

Now, as to your actual question, I believe Muslims are asked about their beliefs just as much. It is, after all, the fastest growing religion (more than doubled in the last 15 years!)

Muslims do not believe in a Trinity god so the Christian God is not the God of the Jews and Muslims.

Muslims do not believe in an end of the world saviour like the Christians do.

The extreme fundamentalists of the three Abrahamic faiths- Christianity, Islam and Judaism are what pose the worst threat to democracy, human rights and peace and security on the planet right now.

All three believe they are 100% absolute truth
All three believe no other religion or belief or lack thereof should be allowed to co-exist
All three believe ALL must convert
All three want poltical power to enforce their ideals on everyone else
All three desire a theocracy not a secular democracy.

So, if I were judging religion I would focus on the extreme fundamentalists of those faiths.

I don't know much about Muslims, so I have no questions for them. My knowledge is mostly about Christianity, in that I've read the Bible several times. I've never read the Quran. They don't post here that much either, and are not open to our differing ideas.

I wouldn't say that it's because I'm afraid, because this is the internet. What are they going to do?

I trolled Islam yesterday.
