I am very tolerant to different opinions, cultures, and beliefs. The only things I'm not tolerant of are bigotry, lying, and condemnation of others. If those who call me intolerant are guilty of these, then I can see why they react that way. Because they are the intolerant garbage trying to make someone else look bad so that their shortcomings may be ignored. Just in case anyone's wondering, only Christians have ever called me that, even though there are several Christian answerers who get best answer from me on a regular basis. It isn't the religion, its some of the members that are the problem. Although I cannot believe the Christian dogma, cannot make myself believe the Bible is anywhere near true, and have a wonderful life as is I do have great respect for some members of the Abrahamic religions. I guess it's just that the worst ones are the loudest. Feel free to give your opinions.

I am not sure why you are being accused of being intolerant. i am a Christian, but I am also firm in the knowledge that every human being has a right to believe what they want. We can discuss our points of view reasonably and rationally and agree to disagree without getting ugly. That is what free will is all about isn't it?
Name calling and finger pointing never changed anyone's mind and only people who want to convert will be converts. I have several friends who are not Christians. I treat them with respect and pray for them even if I don't agree with them.

Tolerance is an overall attitude that applies to everything, not just religion. There are different levels of tolerance. A person who cannot abide liars, bigots, etc may still deal with it better than another. So your intolerance for these things is not unique but your INTENSITY of intolerance may be greater than others. It may bother you more than most people and express it more intensely which is why people think you are very intolerant.

Ah! A conundrum!
We all tend to be very intolerant of others' intolerance.
I think the whole trendy concept of "tolerance" is a load of bull created to squash honest (and sometimes passionate, ardent, emotional) discourse of differing ideas in favor of a mind numb society that appears to agree on everything on the surface but underneath stands for nothing.
I'm a Christian. Follower of Jesus. Not very "religious" in the traditional sense. At the risk of being accused of causing strife among the brethren, I'll confess I tend to irritate as many "believers" as I do everyone else.

You get the same reaction that most get on here..... read some of the answers you have received so far from *both* sides...... sure, you have some that give you *opinionated* answers, that is the point of asking a question, peoples OPINIONS !!! right?? We are ALL intolerant of something!!! truth ??? You should see some of the responses I get....... *shrug*, not bothered by most of them....... I , myself am a tolerant person in most cases, MOST, not all, I do get frustrated and even a little angry, but, that just goes to show how HUMAN I am and that I stand firm in my faith....... both sides will ALWAYS face adversity and challenges.... One light in the window can direct a million........ go in peace..... God bless

well, I don't really follow your questions and answers, so I can't say, but I suppose its because we can't see your smiling beautiful face when you type out your questions. Very often, when there is only the written word, the tone of the writer is lost. If we heard your voice and how you said it, that would be different.
Hey, I wonder if the writers of the Bible ever got misunderstood this way?
Perhaps a cup of coco to go with that thought will help you on with your day. Cheers.

thier are people like this in every religon even athiest and agnostics. And its wrong.
" condemnation of others" well I see all sorts of questions and answers arranged to be condemning of religon or just to make blatant fun of anothers spiritual beleifs
As far as christians who do not behave well, that was one of jesus's big problems with religon in his day. (the bigotry, lying and I believe he was one of those condmned that you mentioned)
Q-Did Jesus really have erotic dreams about the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man!?
Q-Why doesn't Jesus answer my calls?
answer- Do you have the right phone number?
QPlease pray for me concerning a situation I am going through!!!!!!?
answer- Sure, no problem.
"To whom it may concern, please violate the laws of physics or otherwise interfere with free will for the benefit of lilangel."
But maybe you should also take a look , are these QandA's not also condemning? You said you do not approve of condeming and "Because they are the intolerant garbage trying to make someone else look bad so that their shortcomings may be ignored." what do those few examples I gave look like to you?

Tolerance is just letting people be what they are - whether they are wonderful people or just absolute idiots - and just not paying attention to the less attractive parts of people's discourse.
It's most difficult to be tolerant about people who make your life a mess, but with a little faith in yourself, even that is possible...

I'm sorry this is going on. I'm Christian, and I don't get it.
Although, calling them "garbage" is a little heavy-handed.
Some have somehow given themselves (not given by God, I'm sure) evangelical license. God is not a god of negative reinforcement or a God of one-upmanship.
Lack of wider acceptance by fundamental Christians of other ideologies is causing grief all over the world. Which begs the question - should it stop?
With Regards

I think the inquisition and the holy wars were pretty intolerant, but the only people that are intolerant are those with no inner peace, wisdom or faith in their beliefs, that just my opinion though

Why are you obsessed with how other people perceive you? It is a sign of narcistic behaviour, so what if you have a wonderful life and have come to terms with your own belief, if others don't agree they don't agree. Let it go, get over yourself and enjoy your wonderful life. I doubt those people that you claim are calling you intolerant give you more than a passing thought.
