I think the law is appropriate when you have kids from all walks of life running around and tripping over themselves while exposing the butts to the general public.
Maybe it's a statement from the youth...but I can say that seeing the crack of someones rear or undergarments is pretty pathetic!
Would a cop enforce this law....you bet I would because I'm tired of citizens complaining about the indecent exposure!

this is an extremely stupid law and can be claimed to infringe upon constitutional rights. There are worse laws out there but they are usually from way back in the past. It could possibly be enforcible depending on how good a lawyer the person fined had. and I am sure that the lawyer would take it to a win. it does seem to target young black men and just about any young person today. Im only 21 and I remember wearing baggy pants all through my teens. although not to that extreme but I knew some who did. its in fashion right now. Not sure if a cop would really waste their time with it. their time would be better spent catching killers and robbers and so on than giving someone a fine for baggy pants.
Wanted to add that just because one sags their pants does not mean that one will commit a crime. I have never been arrested for anything because I have never commited any crimes. I sagged my pants for years. lets not base our opinion of the whole on the actions of a few (no matter how many the few actually are). kind of feels like jr. high and high school again. everyone whining about something stupid.

No I think the Federal Law that prohibits you from imitating Woodsie the Owl tops that.
The Pants Ban is only neccessary because these children are not recieving any adult supervision. Between boys with thier pants around thier knees and 13year old girls with thier public hair showing it has become obvious that the parents have no control.
As a Policeman I would enforce it. The little wannbe thugs spend thier money at the Mall trying to be Ghetto are hilarious and if the government wants to make it illegal I might as well get a few laughs out of it.

I hate those pants but I do not agree with the laws. Americans should have freedom to dress as they think appropriate.
This reminds me of the arabs in Jerusalem. Once I went from old City jewish side to the arab side. Once on the arab side, not more than three minutes into it, I was surrounded by men with automatic machine guns pointing at me and screaming in foreign language I did not understand. They handed me a blue dress thing with long sleeves that I had to put on. I was wearing a T SHIRT sleeves / not like a tank top. Next to me , is a girl in a mini,, mini, MINI denim short skirt... not she was wearing a balerina bodysuit long sleeve leotard style of a top with tights / black pantyhose. Now I can tell you she was revealing far more curves /legs/ was sexier than I could ever hope to be . lol. Nothing could be said because she no matter how form fitting the clothing was / she was not revealing actual skin.
I was showing 1/2 of two arms that were not even suntanned. I did not appreciate these men with guns policing my choice in what to wear on a hot day. Men are allowed to wear short sleeves / women are not. I thought this was horrible until I later travelled more and learned that there are foreign countries where it is even WORSE than this.
Civilized countries do not need fashion police. I am shocked that we would pass such a law. Stupidity.

I can see both points of this law, yeah its kinda of a waste of time when we have so many other pressing issues. I also know, that those saggy pants are used for alot of criminal activity. So I'm back and forth on this one. But I do not believe that it targets black men.I've seen all races wearing those pants.

First off, you have to understand: our legislators don't want their highly trained statistic generating criminals to trip and fall while in the commission of crimes. If they fall down and get caught they are in jail and NOT generating statistics. Additionally, they might get hurt and then, once arrested, cost even more money with little extra return. No, the politicians, judges and cops must, MUST protect their investment: without criminals, how would they justify their police state?

The law definitely targets younger people. They are most likely to become the targets of law making think tanks since they can not or do not vote. Try passing a law saying it's illegal to wear your pants up to your chest. The seniors would be up in arms and a news letter to AARP would ensure whoever passed that law isn't re-elected.

try this one. the entire encyclopedia britannica is banned in texas because it contains a recipe for making beer at home. also, it is illegal to drive without windshield wipers. you don't need a windshield, but you must have wipers. in houston, beer may not be purchased after midnight on a sunday but it may be purchased on a monday. those are just a few stupid texas laws. every state has their own idiotic laws.
