Look on the list of files, that are on your hard drive, for a folder called McAfee. If there's one there, just delete it.
Uninstalling a program doesn't always remove it completely.
You should also go to SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL.
Look for an icon that is labeled McAfee Updates or something like that. Delete that.
I have Norton, so mine says Norton Updates.
There may be other icons in control panel labeled "updates", one of which is the Earth/Microsoft flag, labeled "Automatic Updates". Don't delete that one.

You may have to reboot your computer using the start up disks you got with your computer package when you first bought it.
First, find those disks.
Next, start backing up all of the files you do want on to cd's, including all music, photos, documents, screen savers, and programs you want to keep, and keep them clean! When you do a system reboot, you will lose everything.
Then insert those start up disks and reboot, following the instructions, and reinstall the programs and files you want back on your computer.
OR
You can do a registry scan to repair delete broken links. It says you uninstalled the program, but it still has pieces and parts running. Go online to a registry scan service and download the free registry scan, and follow the instructions. It should clear out any broken McAfee links. Be sure and go through all your downloads and programs and delete any and all you have not been using in the past year.
Both take a couple hours, the first one will also help remove any spyware or viruses but you lose a lot in the process. The second may or may not work but it should clear enough junk off your hard drive to give you room to work.
Hope that helps.

Some applications have seperate auto-update modules which might not get uninstalled.
Uninstall them via ctrl panel .
Else delete them manually.
Else just configure your firewall to 'kill' the application whenever it tries to run.
ps : also use something like 'Registry Mechanic' which cleans ur registry.
