Yes, they can find out by calling the employer and possibly doing a background check and comparing it to what you tell them.

It's always best to be honest, because sooner or later, the truth will come out. If it's later, and you've gotten the job, you could lose it.

There are ways to make terminations sound less ugly. Many people say "management wanted to head in a different direction", "the company changed and it wasn't a good fit anymore", "I was going through some personal issues which, shortly thereafter, were taken care of and I'm back in full force", or "I made some mistakes that I've learned a great deal from and I'm eager to show you what a great employee I've evolved into".

The most important thing is to own the fact that you were fired; don't hide it, because employers might see that as deceitful or wonder what you might've done that was so bad to get you canned. :)

Good luck and I hope you get a great job!

If you have to put it on your app. I would say that you left for personal reasons. Then come up with a good personal reason. Be vague. Your old boss cannot say anything bad about you to a potential boss. That's very illegal, it's preventing you from getting a job. Also another good trick is say you were a a student taking classes for a short time. I know it's bad to lie, but people need a job. Make sure the next place you work you follow the rules and don't get fired. At least now you see how much it can mess everything up. Good Luck.

Depending if there is a date gap. If it was only about 2-3 months that you had the job, and if you found a job right away after that, then probably not. If they ask for specific dates on employment, they might find out since there will be a gap between one job to another. If the gap was bigger than that and you did not find a job right away, then they will ask what happened in between. It all depends on the situation.

The best way is to get your free credit report from annualcreditreport.com or call Trans Union @ 1 877-322-8228 for all 3 credit reports. It should show who you worked for so if your previous employer is not on there fine, if it is, call the bureau back and ask if they could remove it. You're allowed a free credit report every 12 months .

No they can't find out. but depending on how long you worked there, you will have an unexplained gap in employment that you will need to have an excuse for.
