I am staying in a Motel that has a microwave that has three power settings..low...med..high. Has anyone ever cooked a steak this way before and did it turn out good?

Sorry, thats a recipe for disaster, Microwaves dry out meat. Unless you are turning it often and keep it covered. It will definitely lack in visual appeal. It will take on a greyish tinge and the edges will be really tough.

This is the second question I've seen about cooking steak in a microwave. Steak should be grilled, broiled, or pan-fried only - unless it's swiss or country fried steak or something like that.

Microwaves cook from the inside out so it would be a bad idea to cook a steak that way.

Coat the steak with oil. The oil will attract most of the microwave energy, and you'll get a little browning.

Not a lot. This isn't going to be the best ribeye steak you ever ate, by any means. It may well be the worst.

A better idea would be to head for a drugstore or discount store, and buy a cheap hibachi, and some charcoal, then cook the steak in the parking lot, or to head for a park that has charcoal grills.

Never cook a steak in the microwave, you'll end up ruining a good steak. While working in a restaurant a long time ago, the chef put the steak in the microwave to "give it a head start", as we were really busy. He was very angry with me, but, I absolutely refused to serve such a steak to my customer. Don't do it .. you'll end up with steak jerky!!

Do they have a kitchen? Maybe they would cook it for you for a small charge?
I'd go with a microwave entree from the frozen section before steak. or just eat out.

Yes, I did it that way once. It does cook the meat. But it ends up pretty dried out. I really dont recommend it. Get something else that good that can be made in a microwave instead- I think that those Bartoli pasta's can be made in the microwave, and they are pretty good, try that instead.

Do not, I repeat, do not cook a ribeye steak in the microwave. It will be tough, overcooked & chewy!

It is a finer cut of beef & it requires grilling or broiling!

Treat yourself to a nice meal at a good steak house & refrigerate the ribeye until you go home!

You can't cook steak that way, if it is leftovers you could heat it up. If you eat that steak from just heating it up in the microwave, you and whoever else will be vommiting. And small children could have a lethal effect.

Don't microwave them!! You have to have something else... stove top (fry in a pan), broiler (broil them, Geroge Foreman, build a fire outside and put a grate over it (nothing better than a wood fire for good steak, gotta do something besides microwave!!

You c an sure cook it in a microwave, but you had better give it to a dog to eat afterwards, because only a dog's teeth will be able to chew on it LOL
