for when i take "prfessional pix" what are the main poses? keep it g rated please.

Google Zeltsman posing guide. His website is a comprehensive tutorial on classic posing. The images on his site are very dated, but good positioning and lighting haven't changed since the 70's.

Also check Monte Zucker. He did primarily wedding photography, but the poses are applicable to other uses.

There are basically three 'poses' ... full face, side view (either side) or 3/4 view (halfway between full face and side view) ... you should also look at the 'background and the 'props' (anything within easy reach of the subject is called a 'prop') ... try to keep the 'background' to a MINIMUM when you are taking 'portraits' of both individuals and groups ... and try to get some 'live action' shots and not just 'posed pictures' ... the 'live action' shots, even of JUST THE FACE are often the BEST pictures of people you will take.
