Okay ... the answer is yes, and I'm going to tell you why.
1. Among people who already speak two foreign languages, Italian is the world's most popular choice for a third. That's according to a recent academic study.
2. Italians have the world's most admired and aspired to culture - history, music, cuisine, art, architecture, fashion, design. You name it. We did it first and we do it best. And nothing succeeds likes success.
That is why Italian will continue to be an increasingly popular choice for study among educated people, even as it is already.
You have a nice day now!

As a matter of fact, it's NOT very popular indeed!!!
This is a really nice question, I'm telling you.
I've just come back a few days ago from a trip to the United States.. MAN, thare was NO airplane that explained the safety warnings in Italian!!! There was French.. Spanish.. English, obviously.. German.. But NO italian.
It's a good thing i've travelled a lot and i know all the safety warnings off by heart, what's more, I've lived in the UK (I'm Italian) but like, my mother, she didn't understand A THING.
So I really hope it WILL become a popular language, also because our culture is extremely important also among other countries, and I hope this will help!!

For starters, your question does not make sense. Italian ALREADY is a popular language. It is actually extremely popular.
So, what's your next question?

Why not ask about all languages in one posting? It'll cost you fewer points.
