I suspect a friend may be taking steroids, and he keeps these suspicious tablets in a bottle - If i get hold of one is there any way I can have it tested before I approach him?

Your library will have a 'physicians desk reference`.
It will have descriptions of all recognized medications.
You should be able to identify the pill and learn it's effects and uses.
Careful, you are violating your friends privacy here.
You might learn something about his condition that
he has a right to keep private. (Not steroid use).

yes, but the test will cost several hundred dollars. Check up on drug testing labs in a search engine. They are all over the place.

On the other hand, examine the tablet and it should have some sort of code on it. you can use that code to determine what the pill is.

Your easiest and quickest bet is to take it to a pharmacist - they should be able to compare the pill to others that are in the same possible family. If that yields no results, the pharmacist should be able to recommend the next step for you.
