I had an interview a few days ago. I walked out forgetting to leave a copy of my resume with the employer. I'm afraid it may have cost me the job. However, I did write a thank you letter soon after, in less than 24 hours and enclosed a copy of my resume.

I doubt that it ever hurts to send a thank you as a follow-up. In this case, since you did not leave a copy of your resume, there is no harm in including the thank you along with the resume. Under normal circumstances, you would give them your resume (whether by mail, email, or in person) and then follow up in a few days to a week with a thank you note.

You did the right thing. It's always a good idea to write and send a letter of thanks after an interview, and in your case I don't think forgetting to leave a copy of your resume necessarily cost you the job. Under normal circumstances, however, you would send in a copy of your resume when you apply for the job and then send a letter of thanks within 24 hours of having a job interview.

Usually you give the resume at the interview and send the thank you card afterwards. Since you forgot to leave a resume, you could have left a quick note that at the interview you forgot to leave the resume and then thank them for taking the time to meet with you.

You did the right thing! People rarely give thank you's after an interview. I just got a job for the sole reason that I was the only one to send a thank you - and I sent it by email. It is worth the extra effort!

I actually read that it is a very good idea to send a thank you letter or email after an interview, so I definitly would. It would make a good impression on the interviewer which could possibly help your chances at the job. GOOD LUCK!!

By doing so you are sorta reminding the interviewer about yourself. Because they could have done several interviews that day and now you will stand out in their mind. Good job!

Send it later! It will seem less like a mistake. Sending them together makes it obvious that you don't know what you are doing.
