Hey. I'm 13 and Asian. I'm getting a haircut soon. My hair is 1-2 inches below my shoulder.
All of my friends tell me I should get cute side bangs and layers. But I'm not sure if my hairstylist will do a good job with the layers (I already have thick hair, so I don't want the layers to make my hair look like a "poof ball.")
So if I have a picture to show her of how I want my hair to be cut exactly, theres a greater chance that I'll get my hair looking great. Any sugguestions????? (I don't want the side bangs to get in my eyes though--that may be a problem.)
I'm also thinking about curling it so I'll get some nice waves.

What do you think???

I do think side bangs would look good on you but since I cannot see you it's a bit more difficult. Make sure to be careful when asking your hair dresser to get a style in a picture because since you are Asian you have a different hair texture so make sure you tell her that.

I do think that layers would look good. Asians are all beautiful!

Goodluck! :)

If you don't want bangs to get in your eyes, keep it long enough that you can tuck it behind your ear if you want to. If done right, layers can make thick hair feel a lot lighter and give it more movement. If there's a Chinatown near you, they will probably have hairdressers who know how to handle Asian hair. Otherwise, just tell your stylist your concerns and hopefully they'll make sure not to over-layer it.

Cut it the way you want. if you dont like it then change it the next time it grows out..its hair it will grow back..Your Asian? Whats that supposed to mean? Asia is a very big continent with many cultures and countries.
Maybe you should worry about geography and not your hair.

And I can almost bet you were born here in the USA...So in my book you are an American.

Try and go to a salon that has someone who knows how to deal with Asian hair. If it is cut correctly, it will look lovely the way you described. My daughter is 9 and that is how we had hers cut for school and she looks really cute. :)
