Have had up to 5 at one time, but I lived in the country. Have two now with a 3rd possible (if I find exactly what I'm looking for). The larger the number the more pack mentality you'll have. Make sure all are well mannered and obedient and make sure you can handle 3. depending on the breeds you have and what you are going to get your food expense will increase as well as vet bill and miscellaneous expenses. Make sure, if you live in town, that city ordenance doesn't put a limit to the amount of dogs you can have. In my town it's 2, but I live outside city limits. Do lots of research on the breed you are going to add to your pack. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have three....and they ARE a handful. The big Pro, obviously, is more doggy love...more cuddles, more kisses, and more drool on my fiance's recliner.
The cons include MORE MESS. I have three pit bulls, and though they don't blow coat like some other dogs, they do shed considerably. I vacuum three, sometimes four times a week, and go through a million of those swiffer pads. There's quite a bit of noise as well, and they do need exercise. Have you ever tried to walk three at once??? Almost impossible. They are also very time consuming, as each attends obedience classes. AND, all three need love and attention, and veterinary care, which is very expensive.I don't recommend getting a third unless you have someone willing to help you bear the burden. I couldn't do it without my fiance.

Pros...
nice little pack set up..
Challenging walks
If it's from a shelter it's one more dog that won't be put down.. regardless of shelter, it's another dog with a happy home.
cons:
Cost of the vet x3
cost of food x3
One can influence the other two.. (for better OR for worse)
When one starts barking the other two generally start..
full size bed and dogs take up most of it..
Grooming.. luckily one of mine is a beagle mix.. but the other two are pretty expensive.. or time consuming if done at home..
Regardless of numbers, I think the pros outweigh the cons.. If you can afford it.. , and are really interested.. go for it..

i have three! three sweet, adorable, loving, dogs. two are blonde labs, and sisters, then the other one is a black lab which isn't related to the others. they're the cutest things and it's hard not to love them. ok, i think you said you wanted pros and cons of getting a third, yes? well, i'll list some for ya.
Pros- more to love. the other dogs will be happy with an addition to the family. more playing. little puppies make your heart melt. i know i already said this, but its so much more to love. and plus, dogs love to play with MORE dogs. that's what they're good at.....ok, time for cons....
Cons- more to clean up. more food to buy. more mess to pick up after. more to walk. you need more space. more attention.
even though the cons seem like a lot, i personally think that if you already have two, then you can handle one more. it's not all that hard if you already know what it's like to take care of more than one dog. so honestly, if you ask me, i think you should get another. what harm could it do? you'll be providing a sweet, and loving home for another amazing dog. bottom line. good luck, whoever you are. and if you choose to respond to this question, what kind of dogs are you getting?

yes i had 3 a few days ago my oldest passed away, i loved her and miss her but i have to say i dont want 3 again, im an animal lover but 2 is all i can handle to give the right love and attention to, not to mention the vet bills. i feel guilty that maybe i didnt have enough time for her that maybe i spent more time with the other 2 dogs.
