Many genetic studies published over the past twenty years have repeatedly shown that OCD is hereditary. Early age of onset of OCD may present a significant increase in the risk among the first-degree relatives. However, it is important to note that not all studies demonstrate that it runs in families.

While there are some behavioral tendencies that children can inherit due to repeated watched behavior, such as cleanliness or laziness, OCD goes far and beyond. OCD is, as the acronym denotes, a disease. Although it is not a fatal one, it is one that changes a person's mental state. With that in mind, it becomes clear that a mental disease cannot be inherited, regardless of how much exposure, and how often a child has to it.

Only more as a 'Monkey see, monkey do' kind of thing. I know my grandson 'looks' like he has OCD because he mimics the other grandmothers actions. He sees her stressing out and going through the motions and he does the same when he is stressed. This usually happens after an overnight visit with her. There is no physical link to her, either. His father was an adopted child.

It is yes but this is irrelevant to those who suffer from it. Quite often it is very disruptive in your life. I say it doesn't matter where it comes from, rather where do you go from here, I might suggest cognitive behavioural therapy is good for retraining your mind to think and do, relaxation techniques. It won't go away on it's own.
