My puppy was 6 1/2 weeks old when she received her first round of vaccinations on 8/8 (recommended schedule is 6/8 weeks). I would like to wait until 9/11 to have her second round when she will be 11 1/2 weeks old (recommended is 10-12 weeks). Everything I have seen suggests getting these shots every 3 weeks until the 3 rounds are completed but as long as she is in the recommended age range is it ok to wait the 5 weeks for her second set?

Also I am confused as far as the distemper shot goes. Is adenovirus 2, parainfluenza, parvovirus, and coronavirus all part of the distemper shot or are they individual?

You really shouldn't. The recommended every three weeks is due to the moms immunities still in the pup when first shots are given. If moms immunities are there it will attack the vaccine and pup will not be properly immunized. So they do it every three weeks since there is no way to tell when each pup is out of momma immunities. Its very tricky but very necessary to over vaccinate at this time.

shots are usually done every 4 weeks and yes the distemper shot is an all in one shot for all the diseases you mentioned their should be two given distemper usually in the shoulder area and rabies in the rear and if you give the shots early or forget or dont know when the last shot was given a second dose is usually not a big deal better to over vaccinate than under and its ok to wait a bit just let your vet know

Yes puppies vaccinations are done every 3 weeks til complete. Most vaccinations are combo vaccines, they do have parvo, distemper, coronavirus, & adenovirus 1 & 2. Just ask your vet about any concern you have with the puppy vaccinations.

Do not try to extend the time between inoculations to that many weeks! As someone said, the vaccinations are given on the three week apart schedule due to the uncertain time that the pups are no longer protected by mom's immunity and to go longer, you will need to start all over again.

What they give your pup is a combination vaccine for several illnesses. Do not get one for Lepto unless lepto is prevalent in your area. More puppies have a negative reaction to Lepto than the other vaccines.

You want your puppy protected against all this illnesses so follow the schedule for giving them.

Just as long as they get them.
What matters is that it is of no value to give them any closer that two weeks apart. This is because the previous shot will likely just kill the second shot like it would any other virus if they are given to close together.
The idea behind giving puppy shots in a series is that there is no real way to tell when the mothers immune system will shut down in the puppy. As long as the mothers immune system is active it also just kills the vaccine like it would any other virus. By giving the shots in a series we are attempting to reduce the amount of time between when the mothers immune system shuts down and the next shot.

Your vet or the breeder of the pup are the best ones to ask.

Mine generally get done every 4 weeks, at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age.

Yes it will be alright. When you go to the vet tell them you want the 12 in 1 shot. That will cover all but the Rabies which your puppy is to young for.
