I see now, after judging the responces that the level of truth sought by some of the respondents is less that expected. the question had to with immigration only not the war . I would like to see us, the citizens, come up with a plan to address this problem. Remember the First three words of the Preamble "We the people"?

The socio-economic impact of the immigrants is positive--aseveryone but the right-wing bigots knows.
Andif they're so hot abot the illegal status of the immigrants (which does need to be dealt with)--then why did they support a GOP Congress that spent 12 years NOT enforcing the law and refusing to fix the immigration system--and jsut this summerblocked the first--and only--CONSERVATIVE attempt at immigration reform.
It's only now that we have a Democratic Congress that anyone is starting to enforce the law--in the Red states, not just Blue states.
The only people who have a problem with immigrants are bigots. And the only people who block immigration reform are the Republican fat cats who are making money off the illegal status of their workers.

I think if we had an open bar and a tiki hut with tiki torches and PLENTY of alcohol we would all get along alot better!
****EDIT****
And technically unless your native american....YOU could go back to where you came from too! Not trying to make anybody mad but unless you are native to this country (which none of us are) I really dont think there is much that CAN or WILL be done...Look at the poor Indians....So Sad!
****EDIT****
To the posters that say Mexicans have nicer cars, houses, rims, speakers, etc. Did you ever stop and think that these people work hard for what they have? they save their money and buy what they want! They have these things because they WORK for them. See how we would be with no taxes! They pretty much have NO government....See how much better off we ALL would be without people telling us when and where to spend our money! They are not killing us and making us LEAVE our homes like we did to the Indians! You can thumbs down me all you want. But the TRUTH HURTS don't it?!
****EDIT****
I agree that there should be some kind of restrictions...they should have to learn English and have certain rules and regulations they must follow in order to become a citizen! But you cant tell them they cant come over here at all...think about what YOUR ancestors did to the Indians...What is left of them? Sure there are Mexicans who DONT work for their money and do very illegal things...but what RACE doesnt have people like that. These people have had HARD lives and dont know anything else! I think instead of trying to turn Iraq into a democracy...we should help OUR NEIGHBORS!

Well, all the Eupopean immigrants that came here in centuries past certainly "crippled" all the Native American tribes that had been living in North America for milleniums. And they were techincally illegal aliens, since they didn't go through any sort of immigration process and just started settling in America, killing all the native americans, and taking their land. Unless you're Native American, you're in no position to talk. At least illegal aliens aren't killing off people who already live here, taking their land, forcing them to live on reservations comprised of small parcels of the worst land in the country, and introducing deadly diseases that have never been here before.

There are many people who do not understand the full impact of illegal immigration. They only look at it from one angle, the economic benefits of increased production. Unfortunately, they fail to also factor in the economic drawbacks and various other problems caused by illegal immigration.
The people who have been directly affected and the people who have a more clear understanding of the negative impacts do seem to care and want something done about it.

No, the question should be asked of each and every candidate, is, Are you going to enforce and fund all our immigration laws, YES or NO. and Are you going to vote for any type of amnesty from the Dream Act, to, or not limited to a law like the one in 1986. YES or NO

I'm a 2nd generation American whose parents are Mexican. I also dislike illegals even if they're from where my parents were born. I live in Los Angeles and I try my best to prevent them from making real Mexicans look bad. I called Animal control over the people who owned chickens around my neighborhood. I called the city when i knew some neighbor was selling cars illegally. I've so much that my neighborhood is a bit more peaceful and quiet. I hope all Latinos hear me out and try their best to make their neighborhoods look decent. You are in another country RESPECT and be thankful even if you don't agree with all the things the president (bush) says.

Just about every person I've talked to wants illegals out of here, but politicians on both sides need the Hispanic and/or business vote, and are willing to let our country rot to get it.

I care. But it's not a big issue as you think or as you want it to be. Just don't live on the down side of life. Think positive.
