I'm curious as to why so many Athiest are always in the religious section always trying to disprove somthing you don't believe in.I mean if there was a section about believing in a magical troll who could make it rain bunny rabbits I wouldn't bother going over there trying to disprove somthing I don't believe in.

So I'm just wondering what exactly your trying to accomplish.

''Would you go into that magical troll section if the president of the most powerful nation in the world used that magical troll as his justification for everything, claiming that the troll spoke to him and guided his actions?''

Nice except I doubt your dumb enough to believe stirring up the feathers of some simple minded religious folk will change any of that.

'' I think most Atheists need to confront Believers because so many Believers have aggressively tried to get their point across.

Your example about the Trolls would be a good one if there were fervent evangelical promoters of Trolls out trying to make your life miserable for not believing in Trolls.''

I do believe in god however I tend to disagree with all religions for the most part.Wich puts me on the same boat as atheist.I don't know where you live, but I do believe you and others are exaggarating how much creationist bother you directly. As I live in a strong christian commuinity and I'm largley unaffected by there ''fervent evangelical promoters''

for one, just because we ask questions doesn't mean we try to disprove anything. we are just trying to better understand "why" why anything, why everything. God is the easiest thing to ask why to and never get a clear answer.

I say God save us from all those people who believe they are absolutely right. These are the kind of people who believe they can speak with the authority of God and have the duty to punish all the rest of us.

Argument is contagious. REALLLY contagious.

It's pretty &@#*ing hard not to plunge into a big discussion about god and spiritually because it's becoming a huge debate that is shaking the world and everyone wants to be a part of it.

Only when people grow up a little do they see the wisdom of self-contentment. Not that I've grown up yet either, but I'm working on it.

What if people started killing for the magical troll? Or trying to make magical troll-belief into law? Would that perk your interest? Because it perked mine.

If the people who believed in the magical troll who could make bunny rabbits were attempting to legislate morality in America that impacted both atheists and religious types, I would go to that section too.

"Same thing we do every night Pinky, Try to take over the world!" - quote from pinky and the brain...

To be honest, I'm here for 2 reasons: I don't want religion legislating morality nor do I want to see Creation taught as an alternative to science. And secondly, I want to see what reasons people have for their beliefs.

(A third reason is that all of the sub section questions show up in the high level "Society & Culture" as well).

Edit:

*drink!*

Get something straight, we are NOT here to "disprove something we don't believe in" since that is impossible. We're here to make sure that everyone knows that god is imaginary. God is a myth, nothing more.
He is no more real than any other pixie, fairy or leprechaun in literature.
Understand now?

That's because the people who believe in magical trolls don;t try and run for office based on their beliefs, they don;t knock on your door try and convert you, they do not judge you for not believing.

That is why we speak up to show that we will not be taking it lying down any more.

If enough people started believing in a magic troll that they could be duped into sending money to others and starting wars, then I would want to address that as well. As is, it looks safe for now.
