It has nothing to do with the roman noodles. Your coustin could have chosen normal pasta, or fruit or whatever. You lose weight when you burn more calories that you consume. Everybody burns a certain amount of calories a day without exercise. For example, your cousin may burn 1400 calories a day (according ot her body type, age, weight and gender). If she's eating 3 packages of roman noodles every day, we can assume that 1 package has about 300 calories. So that's 900 calories a day. That gives her an excess of 500 calories a day.
Now, 3500 calories equals one pound. So if she has an excess of 500 calories a day, that means that in 7 days, she has burned 3500 or 1 pound.
So you see, that's why she is losing weight. The problem is that she's not eating enough. When you don't eat enough, your body will eventually go into starvation mode and stop burning calories altogether. It will hold onto everything because it's not sure when it might get fed again. So when your cousin eats normally again, she will gain the weight back and her matabolism will have slowed down.
Additionally, your cousin is not getting any essential vitamins, nutrients or minerals she needs to be healthy and fit.
This is not a safe, healthy or effective diet.

She probably lost weight because she was eating less (I'm assuming she ate more than the equivalent of three packages before). It's not healthy for you. Ramen is just carbs and high in sodium. It'll be easy to gain the weight back once you eat normally. Drinking lots of water is a good idea though. You'd get a better result from just cutting back on portion sizes and doing that. Also eat foods that increase your metabolism, like chili peppers, or drink a little black coffee.

There are many unhealthy ways to lose the weight. I would like to make a suggestion. There is an amazing FREE (no strings attached at all!!) website that gives you a diet plan especially made for you, exercise plans that do not require you to have any exercise equipment, and they have a wonderful support system that you can talk to people going through the same thing you are going through, and they are truly there for you. I just started the program and I am very pleased with what I have seen. I would strongly suggest you take a look at it I think it could really help you! The web address is www.sparkpeople.com ...I wish you all the best, and good luck!

That's sounds so unhealthy. She must blew up like a balloon with all that water gain from the salt. All those carbs also, can't see how anyone could loose weight and keep it off. NOt to mention how sick that would be to eat that for every meal.

You might lose weight if you dont blow up like a balloon from all the sodium but you also risk extremely high blood pressure from all the sodium. there is about a salt shaker full of salt in those things. Not to mention no nutricional value at all.

That's too much sodium. Not enough nutrients. Most likely she lost water weight that will come back once she starts eating regular food again.

You will probably lose weight, but most of it will be muscle because those things don't have any protein in them.
They're not very healthy at all. And they have VERY high levels of sodium.
Really not healthy.

ramen has MSG, hydrogenated oil, and very little nutrients. each packet of ramen has about 13 grams of fat and 350 calories. I suppose if all you are eating is 3 packets a day, and you usually eat around 2,000 calories a day, you can lose weight, but i wouldn't recommend it.
i would try shirataki noodles and fresh vegetables instead. and of course exercise. good luck.

No, eating healthy will help you lose weight. Short-time diets of "fads" only make you lose water weight which you will gain soon after you stop eating your noodles. I have written a perfect diet in my last question so go check it out, okay?

i knew a guy that ate a package of ramen noodles and a can of chunk chicken breast for lunch every day and he lost weight. the only prolem is that ramen noodles are very high in sodium so i'd be worried about cholesterol. a high sodium diet isn't very good for you. besides, eating ramen gets really old really fast. save your ramen diet for college when you'll need it most.
