I'm not familiar with the term "torrent", so I don't know what it is.
BUT, I don't think you would get caught using an illegal pirated copy of Vista.
The only problem you will have is trying to get UPDATES to the Vista software.
MicroSoft has a system build into it's update website that checks automatically for illegal copies of it's software, and won't allow update downloads if the software is a illegal copy.

The chance of getting into trouble is relatively low.
But it is ILLEGAL !
