I visited NY city for the first time this summer. I found everyone I talked to quite friendly and helpful. Several people went out of their way to help me find my way when I was lost. One lady actually walked with me for six blocks to show me the closest subway station.

because people go by what their friends say. Not all NYers are unfriendly; there are some "bad apples" out there but the majority are friendly. thank you for not listening to what other people say about New Yorkers and I am glad you enjoyed your visit. You got to experience first hand how friendly us NYers are.

New York is a very fast-paced city, which some people associate with being cold and rude. Yes, you'll meet some New Yorkers who are late to a meeting and push you out of the way as you're trying to get onto a train--but that's not the norm. Unfortunately those are the only experiences people remember once they're back home telling stories of NY.

For the most part, New York is one of the friendliest cities I've ever lived in.

Some NY'ers have attitudes. The majority of those with the attitude are the transplants from the South and Midwest.

NY's environment is very competitive. Some people just can't make it there. They become frustrated and angry. They are your rude NY'ers.
