Jesus: 'Verily all that which a man loveth, which he leaveth everything else but that, is his god. And so the fornicator hath for his image the harlot, the glutton; drunkard hath for image his own flesh, and the covetous hath for his image silver and gold, and so likewise every other sinner.'

hen said he who had invited him: 'Master, which is the greatest sin?'

Jesus answered: 'Which is the greatest ruin of a house?'

Every one was silent, when Jesus with his finger pointed to the foundation, and said: 'If the foundation give way, immediately the house falleth in ruin
Even so then say I to you, that idolatry is the greatest sin, because it depriveth a man entirely of faith, and consequently of God; so that he can have no spiritual affection. But every other sin leaveth to man the hope of obtaining mercy:

Oh, terrible judgment of God upon the idolaters!'

Please give Book, Chapter and Verse.

I couldn't find this reference in the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance

Matthew 12:31-32 Does say, "Every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven-except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven. Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come." Jesus is speaking here and think that the implication is very clear...all sin is the same (forgivable) except one.

A person can take prove anything they want to by taking just part of the bible! In the New Testament there 4 different versions of Jesus's life. Isn't it a good thing that Jesus only put us in charge of our own actions and commanded us not to Judge others? I know I am not an idolater that is all that matters to me!

Idolatry is the worst sin, since it leads entire nations away from the Lord, and into false beliefs which will cost the world dearly in the coming times.

NO! Killing someone is horrible. Ever had a family member murdered? I have and it is beyond comprehension. Lying? Ever been lied to and experienced the pain a lie brings?
Idolatry? So having a statue in my house of the Buddha is worse than killing and lying? It's causing no one any pain or harm......geez....... I usually don't get irritated but this.......sorry

No.

First there is no God to cast judgment.

Secondly there is no such thing as sin. Lying and killing are far worse ethically than idolatry which harms no one.

For theirs is a jealous god.

It is clear that the god of Abraham condemned the worshipers who turned to another god, more than all else.

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is the only sin unpardonable.

That's from the Gospel of Barnabas; it's not Scripture, so we shouldn't be speculating whether there's any truth in it. The actual teaching of Jesus tells us that ALL sins are equal, with the exception of non-repentance -- which is unforgivable.

idolatry is a form of lying, it is just more specific so i dont see any reason why jesus called idiotry a worser sin than lying.

Killing can not be a greater sin than lying because killing affects someone else.

the answer is thus no.
