I got a medical DVD with workbook that is compulsary for uni - it shows us how to do basic procedures like blood pressure or whatever.

All my other DVDs play in full colour normally but this one is playing black and white. the book says it should be colour coded for us to move between different topics.

so it shud be colour.
i dont know what to do its hard to examine things like temperature charts that are colour coded and understand what they are talking about if its black and white i cant see the colours

If all other DVDs you have play OK, but this one not, then it is probably a disc issue.

a) Check the menu of the DVD disc for any special playback options
b) Check the disc on a different player
c) Make sure the "region" of the disc matches the region of your player.
If it is mandatory, check with other students. Does it work on their players?

if all fail, return the DVD and get another copy.

It's likely a TV standards issue. Not all countries use the same TV standard. The world is separated into two major standards - NTSC and PAL.
If you are playing back the image on a home DVD player, then it is likely the DVD is formatted for one of the NTSC countries (USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan). I'm assuming you are in one of the PAL TV standard countries, since you spelled "colour" with a "u".
Try playing the DVD on a PC (or laptop) computer - this should work. Note that a previous answer suggested the problem is that the region coding may be at fault. Not likely, as region coding would prevent any playback at all.
If you have a progressive TV and the DVD player has the appropriate output, try using the component (3 video cable) connection.
