Sport Bras are better than nothing but if you were wanting the real thing maybe you should sit down and have a real heart to heart with your mom. Also if you have a female teacher or nurse at school you may want to talk with them for other ideas that may help.

What kind of bras are you wanting to wear? I have a 9 yr old and she wears one. Just for a little support because she too has some stuff goung on. She does not like sports bras because she sais they feel too tight. I buy her some light cotton ones with adjustable straps. They don't have underwires or padding in them. You don't need to get those untill you are a teenager. You do need more than two. At least 4. You can wear them more than one day in a row unless you sweat a lot then you need enough to get you through till laundry day.

A sports bra is still a bra. I can promise you most of the women on here, especially on the pregnancy side, really wish they could get away with just wearing a sports bra. Much more comfy.

If you are determined to have a proper bra, just sit down and talk to her about it. She is probably just worried about her little girl growing up too fast.

Clearly your mom doesnt want to admit that your getting older. Sit down with her and explain your concerns and remind her that your getting older and its going to have to happen sometime. 14 is well overdue for a bra. Worst case scenario, the next time you go to a mall, buy one yourself. Its very easy and training bra's are very cheap. Make sure you also buy a sports bra for soccer. I normally dont say to go behind your parents back but your mother is clearly having some nesting issues so thats her problem. You need to fix your problem, not hers! Good Luck!

when i first started growing a little in "that area" my mom bought me 2 sports bras. since i didn't really have much going on in my chest she said that she'll buy me more when i grew a little bit more

all you're going to do for the next 5 years is grow so your mom probably thinks you don't have a big enough chest yet unless your chest really is growing and you do need more bras just ask her to buy you a few. you don't need more than 5 becuase you're going to grow out of them fast

The sports bras were probably a good idea. Let me tell you, if you dont have much to put in the cups on a real bra the thing creeps up all day long and is very uncomfortable. It happened to me when I was young.

why don't you ask your mom to take you to a dept store that specializes in young ladies undergarments.

they can tell you when it is best to buy bras and she can tell you how to measure for the best fitting one.

since your mom will hear this from a professional she may be more inclined to buy one if it is the best thing to do.

however, you may be the one that is pushing the issue too much and may only need the sports bras at this time.

either way, one will learn the other will understand.

Tell your mom thanks for the sports bras, and would she buy you a few more so you can rotate them more often.

When she sees you developing, and you ask her again for bras, she'll decide the time has come. My daughter didn't wear a bra until 12, so you"re an early bloomer.

Take care, sweetie,

Your mom is probably right, a sports bra is sufficient at this stage. Soon enough you will need something with more support so be patient. Trust your mother she knows whats right for you
