If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the
body or the mind of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your
life, which would you want and why?

I would choose the mind. Presently there are many people living in this world whose bodies are not "perfect" or "normal" but have a meaningful existence because their minds are able.

I will like to retain the mind of a 30 year old. I do not think if I have the body of a 30 year old and the mind of a 90 year old the body may be of much use with failing memory and other things that comes with old age.

Hmmm, good question. My mind and body were already shot at 30 so I'm not sure. Do you have to keep your mind or body or can it be some other 30 year old's ??? lol

If I had to keep my own body parts I guess I'd have to go with the mind. I love an intelligent, stimulating conversation. If I keep the body of the 30 year old, I'd be able to do all sorts of things but I wouldn't know what the france I was doing or why!! I could see myself sprinting to the kitchen and then standing there wondering why I was there. If my mind were intact, even if I couldn't move, my imagination could still soar.

Plesant day to you. If I choose to keep my mind, then I may want do things that the rest of my body can't do. If I keep my body then I may forget what I'm supposed to do with it. I prefer to retain my body at 30 years of age. At that age I can forget about illness and have less to worry about. There are always things to learn and do and I will have the strenght to do work and play. If I forget then I'll still be able to learn again. A lot of old folks prefer to be doing something than just laying around useless. I'm sure the ladies won't mind keeping a forgetful 30 yr old body.

Mind. I've had two heart attacks and that definitely did something to my memory. I used to have an 'eidetic memory' (better than 'photograpic' which is just 'pictures' ... I could 'use' my memory even in a totally different subject) and now I don't. Yesterday, I went downtown and TOTALLY FORGOT to pick up some pills at the pharmacy, which was ONE of the reasons I went downtown. I feel 'really dumb' ... but I know that is just an 'anomaly' and that I still have a 'really excellent memory' because I can still answer all sorts of questions here. I want to 'keep learning' until the day I die ... but if I can't walk, I can use a wheel chair, if I can't run, I can walk ... so my MIND is the only thing I'd want to 'keep' ...

Body, because I konw all too many 60-90 year olds that are in and out of surgery all the time, take countless medications, and are extremely unhappy even when they are fully aware of what is going on. I would rather be a little out of it in the head and not have to go through as much physical stress.

I'd go with body, because I don't really think you're at your peak with your mind at the age of 30. I'm 29 and I feel pretty brain dead after having two kids, so I hope this isn't the end of the road for my mind!!

Personally I am aimming for the age of at least 150.
I have no intention of getting there gracefully.
By the time i see the age of 150, the technology may exist to reach 250.

By which time i will be slightly madder than i am now, probably no wiser. And somewhere around level nine million on yahoo answers, with all the other wrinklies, want to join me. see you here in Two hundred and a bit years
