I don't the vents itself would cause the hot air to blow out in the front. Most likely, the valves controlling the air flow are malfunctioning. Don't know how the ventilation systems works in the van, but my guess would be the back of the van is getting the cold air but the front is not. The front is probably blowing the warm air from the outside. I would have a mechanic to check it out.

The part for fixing it should not be too expensive but the labor might be substantial since the mechanic has to find out where the problem is. Some significant disassembly might be involved.

Possible your front vent damper is not closing properly and it is letting hot air from the cold weather heater escape into your automobile cab. This dampers are operated by vac um from the engine. Air hose may possibly be ruptured.

Sounds like an electrical switch problem. Call Nissan service and ask if they have delt with this problem before. You might get a nice person who might actually know and be honest about it. If not i might try calling an auto electrical shop and ask them the same question.
