You need to see a psychiatrist. He's the most knowledgable doctor in your problem, and he can help you.

The easiest way to conquer an attack is medication to prevent the attacks in the first place.

The other is to find out what the trigger is, and avoid it. Or, you can begin exposing yourself to the trigger, little by little, until the trigger no longer functions.

NAMI - The National Alliance for Mental Illness has tons of info about panic attacks (www.nami.org) and can find you a doctor in your area.

I suppose the easiest way is to take medication and have cognitive behavioral therapy. This is highly effective. You also might want to consider hypnosis. These are definitely worth trying.
Have you heard of a program called Panic Away by Joe Barry? It's supposed to be an excellent program to help you conquer your fear of panic attacks and even other phobias. It's highly recommended and you might want to at least look into it. It's a drug-free way of successfully dealing with panic attacks.

Good luck mate

I am single mum. I have been suffering for panic attacks for some 15 years now, though it was not until recently I understood what they were. They were progressively getting stronger and more frequent, stopping me from some days even leaving my house. I read this book and it all made perfect sense.

I am not saying I was not terrified of putting theory to action, I was more scared of that than the next attack! But I decided to view it as a game, one I had control of and could therefore not lose!

With a few spelling lessons.

Seriously though...understanding what an attack is and treatment options might be a start to taking control over your fears.

Try this link from the APA to get started. You might also need to see someone for therapy. Don't worry, lots of people have had anxiety attacks. They are treatable.
