The answer depends on what time the wedding is and where it's located. The earlier in the day, the more casual normally; however, my wedding is at a location that doesn't allow shorts or denim so you should consider that in your decision. Probably better to err on the side of caution and go with a dress or some nice pants.
Being a little overdressed is always better than being the most casual person there.

I definitely would not wear shorts, no matter what the formality is.
How formal is this wedding, though? If it's something VERY casual (in a basic hall or a low-key affair in someone's backyard), try a casual skirt, nice capri pants or a nice pair of black pants, and nice shoes or dressy sandals. Plus a neat top, like a crisp button-up shirt, a short-sleeved sweater or a silky dress tank. Add a jacket or a wrap if it's chilly or if you want to dress it up a bit, and some nice jewelry as well.
If it's semi-formal, try a cocktail dress, or a well-tailored pantsuit and nice blouse, like you'd wear to a job interview. If it's formal, get a long gown.

No, shorts are never OK for a wedding. No matter how dressy they may look, they are still shorts. Pick something else to wear.

"Dressy shorts" is an oxymoron. By definition, shorts are casual. They may be in varying stages of "niceness", but even the nicest shorts are casual. Go with a skirt or a dress or dress slacks.

Like City Shorts? Those that are tailored and come to the knee? Depending on the formality of the wedding and venue, you could make it work, but if in doubt, go with the pants/skirt/dress

No shorts, try a nice skirt (not mini) and a blouse. Or nice dress. The color should not be too loud and no white. Other than that you can pretty much wear anything, just wear something that is a bit dressy.
Good luck!

As a general rule, I would say shorts are never appropriate for a wedding (unless it is extremely casual and on a beach somewhere).
If you don't want to wear a skirt/dress, how about a nice pant suit?

It is normally expected that girls will wear some sort of dress or skirt. Even if it is a causal wedding wear a summer dress. It doesn't have to be fancy.
It would be considered rude to wear shorts, even if they are the tailored ones.

I always say if you have to ask you shouldn't wear it. If you really want to I would ask the bride if it would be OK. It also depends on if it the invite says simi formal, formal, black tie, casual, simi casual. we are having a wedding On the beach in the evening and it will be simi formal . I would say it was OK but that is completely my opion. If it say "formal " no don't wear shorts. Hope I helped and good luck!
