On the R&S forum people repeatedly claim that because priests cannot have sex, they molest kids. I asked a question asking those people to tell me how long a person can go without sex before they begin to abuse children. It is a perfectly acceptable question considering the ridiculous claim that a lack of sex creates child abusers when we all know there are plenty of abusers out there that get plenty of sex. The question was removed of course.
As offensive as I find the accusation regarding priests, I have never reported anyone. I prefer to discuss it like adults. Why does anyone on YA feel this is violation of community guidelines and the opposite claim is not?

Also, why am I getting so ticked about it?

Take a deep breath...in through the nose, out through the mouth...
There, now, it's understandable to get upset when people use harsh attacks towards one group of people because of media attention toward certain individuals of that group. However, you just have to accept the fact that people will always have this sort of thought about priest. It's unfortunate, but hey, what can you do. Priest and pastors need the most prayer, because if Satan can take down the Sheppard, then the flock will scatter...

You say "On the R&S forum people repeatedly claim that because priests cannot... " ... I can't believe you. Repeatedly claim... I have been here at r&s for a long time and have not ever not even once seen anyone 'claim' the thing you say they do...
WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PEDLE LIES IN THE FORM OF FAKE QUESTIONS? you are the Hypocrite you loath... you are just engaging in what the psychologists call 'projection'..

You are right though about how long can a person go without sex before they begin to abuse kids... people do not become pedophiles just because they ain't getting any!☺!

I've never actually seen that claim very much on here. I don't know why it would be removed. It's a reasonable discussion to have, however, you also have to consider that their are people on here who have been victimized or know people who have been victimized by priests. You also have to consider that some of us are angry that the Church continues to hide offenders. Of course, you are right. Abstinence doesn't make one a pedophile. It is disturbing, however, the number of pedophiles that end up priests. Everybody gets ticked off at times. Best to you.

I thought your question reasonably pointed out a flaw in logic and it was not suggestive or offensive.

I suppose you are ticked off because this is not the first time you have felt this unfair bias. After all those who want us to be so tolerant towards other view points, show great intolerance towards those who faithfully espouse the Christian view point. And those who make the claim that there is no absolute truth, don't realize that they just made an absolute statement and that they are trying to push that viewpoint on others.

However, I have to say that I do not completely agree with your premise. The Bible does not support forbidding people to get married and points out the danger of withholding sexual relations for those who are not able to contain themselves.

While many child abusers get regular sex, do you not see at all that someone who knows they are supposed to go their whole life holding back normal urges and still needs an outlet for them might be drawn to children, who are less likely to say no and less likely to tell the rest of the community?

Menaing, if they weren't priests, they might not be child abusers. Child abusers who are just janitors or whatever would be child abusers no matter what their job. But I can see how forcing someone to go their whole life without sex would lead to abuse that might not happen otherwise.

It's not a violation of anything, except the weak faith and scandalizability of some fundamentalists. That needs all the violating it can handle.

You're right and they're wrong. You know it and you know that THEY know it, but because of the way YA is set up, there ain't much you can do about it: that's why you're so ticked.

I'm ticked for your.

Not sure. I have asked what I thought were very honest, but difficult questions concerning minorities. They are always removed. We humans are WAY too sensitive.
Personally I think people who fall within the realm of your question are afraid of the answers, so they react with hostility.

this is common in all male institutions such as :prisons, military religious etc.
You are asking a straight forword question in a civil manor. that's what these forums are for.Religious people sometimes don't like to hear negative things about their faith, and will report you.

there are actually people who want to focus on the negative things about something in particular, but if you point it out to them that it happens everywhere, they can't take it.
