How odd that you seem not to have noticed there is a GENERAL CATEGORY where questions are posted on all kinds of different subjects, some of which are R&S. I don't hang out in the R&S section. I just browse through the General category and if I see a question that tweaks my interest, I respond to it.
Incidentally, why do YOU hang out in the R&S section? You know that you are going to run into just two kinds of people... believers and unbelievers. You have nothing to convince your fellow believers about, now have you? So you must only be there to try and convert the non-believers. I have absolutely no interest in converting anybody to anything. I don't give a tinker's toenail what a total stranger on the internet believes, or even the stranger at the supermarket. But I don't mind responding to some question that is directed to non-believers in this forum, especially if it helps to clarify something that the questioner apparently doesn't know.

Much as I understand what you are trying to say here, as a Christian, I believe that this section is for everyone. I for one am glad that Atheists are in this section. While many have enjoyed poking fun at God and at Christian beliefs, (like the guy who said he sneezed & the booger looks like Jesus and he wonders if he should sell it on e-Bay....that's just pathetic), I have also seen many who are quite nice and have very positive things to contribute. We can all learn from each other. What I learn from the Atheists in this section, is how many believe and feel and how many of us Christians come across to them. This is useful knowledge because it helps me to see how I can improve in my own Christian walk so that I don't turn someone away from God in my actions or words. It also helps me to know what things that many people claim as their reasons for not believing, so that I can be better equipped to know how to speak to them when sharing with them about God.
What I believe that Atheists gain from being in this section, is a better understanding of how we who believe in God actually believe. The more we understand one another, the better we can get along with one another. Also, I do see many Atheists in this section who are teetering on the fence between belief and disbelief. Perhaps God can use someone's question or answer to touch the heart of someone who doesn't believe and help them to see things differently and to believe in God and seek a relationship with Him. You never know.
Point is, this section is for everyone. It is not a mutually exclusive club where only those who believe in God are allowed to go. Every human being has SOME sort of religious beliefs, even those whose religious beliefs are that religion is stupid and there is no God. We can all contribute here and we can all benefit and learn from one another. The only people who I think should go elsewhere, are those who are here for the sole purpose of violating community guidelines by harassing, making fun of and targeting groups or individuals by hateful, derogatory or bigoted comments. Those people should get off the computer, take a chill pill, and then get back on when they've grown up a bit.

It's not just for religious people, it's for everyone, surely its about discussing different peoples views and opinions not just raving on about a chosen religion. I can see why religious people do get angry however as there seems to be an awful lot of narrow minded people on here! Although seeing your comment about how 'atheists just drinking alcohol' that surely includes yourself...

Yeah.........why are the Atheists constantly in this Group when they don't believe in God in the first place? Here's one back at the Atheists.............if God doesn't exist........Why do you always feel the need to convince everyone else (even if we all have a mind and can think and reason for ourselves) that he doesn't . Are you just reassuring yourself that he doesn't exist? Convincing yourself that he doesn't exist, doesn't mean he doesn't exist. Telling the world all your reasoning as to why he doesn't exist........won't matter to those that believe he does.
Why are you so offended by someone/something that (in your mind at least) doesn't exist.
I for one.....think you should give this whole thing more thought..................that is ..............if it exist.

Planting seeds of rationality is not a waste of time. Most atheists were raised religious, and recovered - often because they realized they weren't the only doubters.
Why is there an R&S section anyway? It's all mythology and folklore!

I don't know either. If atheists believe religion is foolish, then who is the bigger fool? The fool or the one trying to convince the fool the he/she is foolish? I would think the latter.
I know many atheists and agnostics, none of them go out of their way to argue with a religious person as it is foolish.

ug this question again?
because it's still talking about god and the existence or nonexistence of a higher power. where else would you like to discuss these things? lack of religion still falls under the religion category. if i wanted to talk about how people should stop listening to country music because i don't believe in what it says, i'm going to talk about it in the country music section.

I don't say 'god just doesn't exist'. I'm secular Humanist so I promote the positive side of atheism. And i consider myself to be spiritual; in that i believe in art, music and literature etc.

The Master once said this:
"It takes but one small spark, to ignite an entire forest!"
"It takes but one ray of light to dispell all the darkness!"
A "good pond" never rejects anyone that comes to get a drink and become refreshed.

So we can make fun of pretentious and immature questions that get asked. We wouldn't miss it for the world God created in six days.
