GEORGE CARLIN Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - gross and mouthy comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

Yes, I heard George Carlin say this a while back. I too was surprised that it came from him. But then again he is the king of paradox And if you think about it, it is sadly all too true. I hope that all who read this don't just agree and dismiss it but realize just what he was trying to tell us and that these problems need to be changed. And that each and everyone of us has the ability to make that happen. Even if it is just one little thing at a time. Thank you for posting this. We all needed to read it.

It really just all sums it up to the fact that the government keeps raising taxes on everything, so we have no choice but to bust our butts to try and pay for things we need. And in the process, our values are shot to hell and it's hard to stay happy and do the things we should do.

He has always been insightful as well as funny (in a profane, foul mouthed sort of way).I personally agree with most of what he has had to say over the years and still enjoy his wit, wisdom and sarcasm!!

wow this is exremely true and appropriate, and it nails down todays society to a T, while everyone is not in this group a large portion of society is like this. and it isn't they way that god expected it to be, it takes two incomes to make one family even live above poverty, my bro works 60 hrs a wk and is still just scraping by i don't know how that is possible but welcome to the wonderful united states, i know we should be grateful for living here there are alot worse places to be but still this is very true thanks for sharing
