Not necessarily. But hopefully a girl that was feeling responsible enough to have sex and responsible enough to get a pill prescription would also be responsible enough to take them as per that prescription. And hopefully she'd also be responsible enough to know that although the pill protects against pregnancy it is not a sure thing AND that it doesn't protect against ANY venereal diseases. It's better to double up and use a condom every single time, too, and even then it's not a sure thing.

definately not wrong... teens are having sex at such early ages... a lot as young as 12 or 13... also, I was 15 and put on pills due to my polycystic ovarian disease and also my irregular periods...so if she is irregular, it can help that too. you can get pills free if you can't afford them, just find the clinics around your town with family planning. Have a good 'en! <3

well I assume by "the pills" you mean birth control. if this is true then no. it actually has more uses than just birth control. it will regulate your menstration and tends to make the pain of cramping fade slightly as well. of course there is the added benefit of it helping to lower the chance of pregnancy. if you plan on having sex then you should be on them. Especially because sometime accidents happen and a condom will break. if this happens and your on the pill then you will have an added "barrier" against pregnancy.

if a 16 year old is sexually active, then she should be old enough to be proactive in her birth control options. however, I don't feel like she should just be handed pills and that be it. a sexually active teenager should be given the full scope of her choices, and the possible consequences to these choices, counselled on the side effects of birth control, and with her parents make the right decisions for her. good luck!

No, my daughters were slightly younger. We have a family history of heavy bleeding and alot of pain. I would rather they were on the pill with their periods regulated than missing school. It also helped with their moods and completions. And for the record, neither were sexually active in high school (yes I know).

Yes, you should be thinking about more important things. Any way, what do you plan on giving your husband when you get married? Seconds or thirds, or so? I'm sure he'll appreciate that.
