We live less than an hour’s drive from Napa Valley, and go there at least once a year. Napa wines have gotten to be so expensive. Everybody makes an expensive wine. If you can, go to Sonoma, you may find some bargains there.

Phelps on the Silverado trail. They made Wine spectator ‘wine of the year’ not too long ago. Quality wines across the board. It has a great view. You should be able to order them from your reseller. You will need to make an appointment and that can be done by calling a few days in advance. Some other will known like Caymus and Vine Cliff also work on appointments.

Elyse (by appointment).

One the corner of the highway and Oakville Cross road is the Napa Wine Company. This is a local secret. Many great wines different labels in short supply.

I don't know what you mean by "value", as in cheap, or expensive for the taste, or something different for your restaurant. However, Markham is making some good ones, so is Stag's Leap, Sterling, Krug, Mumms, Silverado, Beringer, Mondavi, Clos Pegase, Clos DuBois, Grgich, many others in all price ranges and good quality.

While you're here, hit the Visitor's Center in downtown Napa and get a tasting card. Twenty bucks for it, and you can visit most of the 17 tasting rooms downtown. They claim a tasting with that card is a dime, but they usually waive that. The tasting rooms serve wines from a bunch of different wineries. It's a great way to find new wines on the cheap, and they either sell the bottles or have info to contact the winery to have it shipped.

(And if you're downtown, don't go to Sushi Mambo, lousy service.)
