I have started having seizures aged 21/22, for no reason and I'm depressed about it. Will i die so young?

for all those who repeatedly tell me to see a doctor - if you dont know the information DONT REPLY.
you cud say that about any forum on Y! - talk to an expert - but this is, indeed, the health forum where experts frequent, so shut up!

One step at a time. Get diagnosed first, by a doctor. None of us here have access to your test results, even if some of us (not me!) are qualified to interpret them.
Tell the doc you're freaking out and see if you can get some counseling in the meantime.
Good luck.

First of all let me explain that seizures are not necessarily symptoms of a brain tumor. There are other much more typical symptoms which I am sure your doc asked you about.
However : here are some other questions: before the onset of the seizure do you see bright colors or smell beautiful smells? (This is called an aura). Do the seizures come after periods of stress or after a spell of anger ? Do you sometimes wake up with blood on your tongue for having bit it during the night? Do you sometimes "doze off" for a couple of minutes -even during an intense activity- and later do not remember anything from these "absences"? If you answer yes to any of the above you should have an in depth EEG awake and asleep. You may have a neurologic disorder (treatable and leading to normal life) but I don't think you have a tumor. All the best Dr. House.

Sounds like you are waiting on test results. You need to chill out and get some rest. All this worrying about dying and brain tumors is killing you and your strength.
Many have developed seizures later in life. You will learn what is triggering it and more than likely they will give you medication to control it better. They have learned new medical technology for dealing with seizure patients better,so their patients can have a normal life.
So give it a rest and stop your worrying!!!!! You are not dying of a brain tumor just think you are from your anxiety and panic attacks. Breath slow deep breaths in and out and when you start to feel like your worrying do something you enjoy or go for a 3 mile walk out in the evening. Spend time with a pet if you don't have one get one.
You'll be fine..if it was a brain tumor I'm sure that they would have found it quickly that day.

Only doctors can give you an educated answer. The tests are not always pleasant and waiting for results can be stressful. Continue with tests, get doctor's opinions. Do research on the causes of seizures Seizures can be related to other things besides tumors. Good luck. Best wishes.

Your CT scan was clear. You wrote 'horrible experience' (may be because of the noise) for MRI, alright, horrible but what was the report?
I think that too didn't reveal any brain tumor. Unnecessarily you are worrying about brain tumor & death. It seems it is a case of epilepsy. You will have to take regular treatment for coupla years, if the seizures don't recur, they will gradually withdraw the pills.
Good luck!

This is something that you need to talk to your doctor about. We are dont know how long you have if you are dying from a brain tumor. If this is true I am terribly sorry about your condition. Be strong and try to do whatever you want to do as long as you dont break any laws. Enjoy your life to the fullest and dont let anything or anyone let you down. I will pray for you. HOpe there is a cure or something for it.

What does the MRI show? If it's clear too, then you dont have a tumor. (Unless it's so small that it may not show.) Go to a neurologist and see what he says. Have them send to him the results of the MRI to look at.
If the MRI isnt clear and there is a mass on the brain, there is treatment available. I dont think they do chemotherapy but they do radiation. Not very comfortable to undergo but can be effective and prolong life.

Hmmmm.....
Who should I ask about my medical condition?
1. A doctor who was probably top 10 in his college class with at least 10 years of postgrad training who is looking at my imaging and test results?
2. Random people in a public forum who I don't know from Adam, have no background or data on me, and probably can't even spell Magnetic Resonance Imaging?

Death is an unavoidable thing for everyone. Nobody really knows why some die earlier than most, but the fact remains that we will all go through it eventually. It is part of life.
The best thing to do is accept it and know that everything happens for a reason. Possibly your death might be the start of something wonderful like a fund that might help build a hospital wing for the study of your disease.
I know that it might sound cliche, but I would suggest that you try to make the best out of it. Use your death as not just another death, but as something that can bring awareness, education, research, and hopefully an eventual cure to future people in your unfortunate circumstance.

sweetie, just wait for the results of the mri. then discuss it with your doctor. I know you're scared and depressed but asking anyone who isn't a doctor isn't the way to go
