I have scheduled an appointment with a doctor for tomorrow morning because I think I have a Urinary Tract Infection, but I was wondering what would be good to treat the symptoms today. I am experiencing burning (even when I'm not urinating), cramps and nausea.
I also have a headache, and I want to know if it is ok to take something for it. I don't want to do anything that will make this worse.

Call your pharmacist and ask for a recommendation. He/she will probably give you AZO which works fast and will clear up the problem. Wear old underwear when using it because the medication (almost all of them) will cause staining. Your headache may be caused from low-grade fever or from the accompanying stress. You may take Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, or your favorite pain reliever for it.

Like others have recommended, drink plenty of cranberry juice. Be sure and see your doctor ASAP to make sure that your infection doesn't enter the blood stream.

Drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Also, there is an over-the counter uti pain relief medication similar to pyridium that will help with the pain part. Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc has it available for less than $10. Other than that, if it's a true urinary tract infection, only an antibiotic will help you out quickly...which is probably what your doc will prescribe. Good luck! I have had UTI before and they are NOT FUN. You have my sympathy.

start drinking large amounts of cranberry juice. Also you can purchase cranberry tablets or capsules at most health food stores and they would be very beneficial. You can take Tylenol for your headache and that will not cause any further problems with your UTI. Place a hot water bottle or heating pad over the bladder area to help relax it.

Uristat (lower dose of the pain med the doc gives you) can be found over the counter... Cranberry pills I think they are called AZO (again over the counter)... Motrin/Advil/Ibuprofen (all the same thing and again over the counter)... And LOTS of WATER...

If you can stomach some cranberry juice great but the cranberry pills and water together give you the same effect... I HATE cranberry juice!

A UTI is a build up of bacteria in your urinary tract and one of the best and quickest ways to relieve symptoms (or get rid of if you catch it quick enough) is to use all the things above as directed on the packaging to flush your system and urinary tract... Keep drinking that water too...

Your doctor will need to give you antibiotics to stop the infection if it is already bad... and this may give you a yeast infection so be prepared... Once the UTI is gone if you notice the signs of a YI then take an overnight treatment of Monistat and you should be fine... Its not a garantee for a YI but it is a well known possibility... Antibiotics used to treat UTI kill bacteria including good bacteria that keeps yeast growth under control...

If you have a urinary tract infection (UTI), you will probably be given antibiotics, medications that eliminate the bacteria that cause UTIs. Antibiotics must be prescribed by a doctor. They are usually taken in the form of a pill, and most are safe for use during pregnancy. Antibiotic treatment for an infection of the urinary tract varies in duration from three to 10 days. The period of time you'll have to take the medications depends on the type of bacteria present and the severity of the infection.

If you are healthy and not pregnant, a UTI can usually be cured in two or three days. However, if you have a severe infection of your upper urinary tract that involves your ureters and kidneys, treatment may not be so simple. In a case like this, you may need to stay in the hospital and have antibiotics delivered directly into your bloodstream, usually through a vein in your arm. (This is called intravenous delivery.)

Call your gyno and make an emergency visit. Tell them you are positive you have one and are extremely uncomfortable and cant wait till tomorrow...most doctors will take you right away or if you had a UTI before they can call in a prescription for you.

Honey, take some water and baking soda (small amount) mix together and drink down. It is an old time recipe and it works.
I used to get honeymoonitis every month and with the above instant relief.
Antibiotics disturb the flora of the vagina and to counterbalance after taking antibiotics you need
yogurt.
Good luck either way.

Drink lots and lots of Cranberry juice and water. Northland is the best brand IMO. Good luck, I used to get those all the time and they hurt like hell.

This is no miracle cure, and you certainly will want your doctor's advice. But try drinking cranberry juice. Studies have suggested that it is in fact beneficial in situations like yours.
