I'm sure a lot of people are annoyed at those who carry on loud, phantom conversations (through their cell phones). Sometimes this can lead to trouble.
I had this experience once - I was walking my dog when at least a half a block away I could hear a woman talk about very personal (money) matters on her cell phone. This was in a pretty dicey neighborhood where only a few days before someone had been violently attacked.
I waited for her to come up to the corner and (while keeping my distance because of the dog - she was fearful of the dog) I politely told her that I honestly wasn't trying to poke into her business but that I could hear precisely what she said - from half a block away. At first she denied talking so loudly so I repeated word for word some of what she had just said. Then I reminded her of the attack just a few days before and suggested to her that she talk more quietly on her cell phone.
The lady was horrified and thanked me for thinking of her safety.

My best friend does that and I just want to slap her when she gets so loud! I could literally hear her all the way across a parking lot once. It was embarrassing.
Yes, it is very annoying. People need to realize that we don't want to hear about that fight John and Jane got into. We don't care that you're going to the club that night and you're wearing your black halter. I once overheard a woman talking, in great detail, about the romantic night she'd had with her man the night before. I was disgusted and almost took the phone from her.
I especially hate when people feel the need to talk with the speaker on so everyone can hear both sides of the conversation. GRR!
I honestly try to keep my voice down when I'm in public and I'm on my cell phone. If I raise my voice, it's only because the person said something that surprised/upset me.
Unfortunately, people (like my friend) don't realize they're being so loud and we can't say anything because it'd be seen as rude. I guess the nasty looks and exasperated sighs will have to do for now.

I annoys me as well. They often do so while bragging, so I think they want to be heard. I've often wondered if there was any one on the other end.
For example. An adult at the mall calls someone on her cell and loudly announces that she is shopping and the mall officials should not allow the teens to hang out there. It is doubtful she was actually talking with anyone.
Another example: An unattractive male calls someone and loudly talks about his new sports car while in the presence of attractive females.

Cell phones were invented for the betterment of mankind. But with times it turned from a luxury to a necessity in our lives. Some of us dont realise this. These some are the ones who speak loudly and misuse the cell. What they forget is what did they do when they had no cell phone? After all no one was born with a cell phone!!!!!!!
I sometimes feel like asking them this question but stop myself as what will be the difference between them and me ?

Yeah, thats pretty annoying, like yelling into the phone is going to make the reception better or something. I actually think the whole cell phone thing in general is annoying, whats so important that you have to talk about it right then and there? what happened to wait till you get home and have youre conversations in private?

They're either too ignorant and disrespectful to show any consideration for the people around them, or they're just too oblivious to anyone but themselves.
I was once stuck on a packed train and some guy decided that he was going to YELL his entire conversation (which lasted about 15 minutes). He just kept getting louder and louder and didn't change his tone or hang up, even when half of the people around him were shooting him dirty looks. What a moron.

Me to, or when people put their callers on speaker in public, or when people talking on the phones are waiting in line and can't put their phone down long enough, you have to wait for them to get off their call while you have other customers waiting there is a such thing as cell phone ettiquette

It annoys me as well. I just chalk it up to the ever increasing level of ignorance in society. If you'll notice,99% of the conversations are Bull S**t. What did they do before cell phones were invented?

Its very rude! I work at a very busy hospital and they do that while Im getting info to register them. I just tell them that when they are done with their conversation I will help them but they will be put at the bottom of the list. That usually gets them off the phone. I personally dont like hearing about baby mama drama while Im trying to work!
