If you are a dispensationalist, they are both part of the same system, Judaism being a vestigal group of an earlier dispensation. Judaism as practiced today descends from the scribes and teachers (rabbis) of the time of Ezra, a sect which gained power over the older temple system. The temple rituals had already lost much of their importance by then and ceased completely after the distruction of Herod's temple when the synagogues were the centers of worship. Christianity began as essentially a new sect of the older Judaism and broke off with them entirely when the Gentiles became the more numerous converts.
